First saw him jawing in the TN game - not only to their players, but then the TN fans from the sideline for gosh sakes! (As we’re gettin pushed all over the field)roguewarrior wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 5:38 pm It all started with Ferguson personal foul. Make him captain next week SL.
I thought if the Staff doesn’t get this stopped, it will lose us a game.
Will they do something now?
The kid IS a good player but wire his mouth closed.

I believe we gave the same amount to Murray State last year. Standard practice between FBS/FCS even at the G5 level.hammb wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 10:48 pmThere won't be 12k people there for homecoming. And Strack reporting we paid $350k for EKU to come? There was never a shot to even break even in that game!jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 10:34 pmSpeaking of which if anyone wants my tickets for next week let me know. On the field I don't even know what to say. The offense is just butt ass ugly. McDonald is blind; threw some nice balls today and put up better than usual stats for him, but his eyes are slower than I'd ever expect for a 6th year senior... He's in slow motion.
Defense was basically just balls out blitzing constantly which got some sacks but also gave up an insane number of screen passes out completely uncovered outlets.
I just can't fathom how you block a point, recover an inside kick, finish even on turnovers (if you don't count the onside), and still get outgained by an fcs team and need a furious comeback to get the 4th quarter lead.
Hell they ran the single worst ot play call anybody will ever see, and still managed a win.
Speaking of which, the new ot rules are disgusting
This group doesn't know how to win. We heard all summer about how the players leadership gang had taken over the culture. Curious to see how they respond.
And yes the two point shootout is gross. Teams only have so many of those goal line calls in the playbook. Go back to the old way but move the ball from the 25 to the 40 and make it challenging.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Looking forward to EKU
I don't doubt that figure is common, I just don't see the point. No way we brought in even $200k in ticket sales. A payout like that makes zero sense. I guess you're saying that you're willing to lose money on a home game just to have a shot at a win, but....jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 11:05 pmI believe we gave the same amount to Murray State last year. The OT for me is just awful. I never had a problem with the old way but for me I'd always just be fine with a 10min quarter and call it a tie if it's still tied after. The run one play then meander around for 5-10 mins before another play is just boring as hell. And then for some unknown reason each team gets a timeout every period as well!? Why...you're running one play!

No one is going to do that. Until we have an athletic director in place, Loeffler job is secure, aside from a Chris Jans-type episode involving moral turpitude.
I expect he will play out the season, and perhaps remain in place indefinitely until we have a permanent athletic director in place. Even then, the new athletic director may need time to find a new head coach.
This will be a completely lost season when it comes to recruiting, and it will be that much harder to build a winner here.
And if we don't have an athletic director in place soon, we might not have many options when it comes to finding another head coach.
It's a dark day for Falcon football.
It was good coach speak.
In theory, this team could still win the East. The division is wide open.
But with everyone saying the season is over and assuming Loeffler is out of a job, players may well start to check out.
And, in any case, the Falcons need to play better than they did today to compete in the East. McDonald played better, and that is something. But it wasn't nearly enough today.
Yeah. I heard that. If anyone got it on tape, it's worth a listen. Gibson sounded both angry and heartbroken about the state of the program.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 9:02 pm Gibby said on the radio that the attitude on the plane ride home from the UCLA was way too casual and upbeat.

Re: Looking forward to EKU
Yes. In reality, it is too early to fire him...too stubborn to quit. I think Rogers will be the one to fire him...it's obvious a change is in order, why saddle the next AD with the odious task of firing someone...why make him/her have such an unpleasant task walking in the door?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Looking forward to EKU
My best guess is lose to Akron again on Oct. 1, and he doesn’t coach on Oct. 8th. Rogers already started to gut it, he will continue to do it regardless of the situation with the AD.
Re: Looking forward to EKU
While as a fan I've often times hoped my team would fire coaches mid-season, just to appease me, the reality is it's generally a fruitless endeavor. You're just going to promote from within and continue running the same crap week in/week out.
That said my buddy on the way out did point out that the one time in the last 3 years Loeffler's teams looked good was when he got ejected, so I dunno, maybe there is something to just getting rid of him.
Either way, this season is basically already a lost cause. Sure, theoretically they could still win the MAC, but c'mon, really? I do think there are probably 2-3 teams in the MAC East that are no better than EKU, so I'm sure we'll squeak out a couple wins, but the likelihood of "Building on the momentum" (LOL) of that 4 win season last year seems to be nil. This coach sucks. He's sucked everywhere. He sucks here every bit as bad as the guy he replaced. Dude can flat out NOT coach.
You won't see me at the Doyt again this year, and I can probably say with good faith I won't be in the stadium again as long as he's employed here. It's just not fun to watch a team struggle to move the ball against FCS foes. God knows what a good MAC team will do to this squad (are there any "good" MAC teams anymore?).

Re: Looking forward to EKU
If we can't get rid of Loeffler, can he at least get rid of whoever is running the defense? They gave up +600 yards in a game played in a furnace, and +400 yards to an FCS team. They're on pace to give up over 3 1/2 miles this year. Forget the struggles of our 8th year quarterback, we're not going to beat anybody with this defense.
Re: Looking forward to EKU
This. You’d think in 7 OTs someone would make a play on what should be an inferior opponent. Nope.Critical Thinker wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 10:02 am If we can't get rid of Loeffler, can he at least get rid of whoever is running the defense? Re: Looking forward to EKU
Had EKU not had a TD drop in the 4th qtr...probably wouldn't have needed OT to win.
We've gone from gonna be contenders in yr four to 'we have to be able to beat FCS teams at home"
What a ride that's been..

Scott Frost available
Re: Looking forward to EKU
As an alum I love so much about Bowling Green. Gotta be there for the ups and downs for your alma mater. Watching that game, it feels like our coach is the exact opposite of Tressel, much like Scott Frost the guy cannot figure out a way to win. No way should that have gone to OT, let alone us giving up that two point conversion.
I hope our guys keep working hard, but we need a Bergeron type coach to restore this program
