No coincidence his decline began once Sean Lewis left his staff. That scheme definitely works at the G5 level but a lot of the chrome has worn off the vehicle.

Loeffler is coming back…one more win and it’s a lock.
Considering Babers didn’t recruit, had a gambling scandal (casino and players stealing from each other), and basically no discipline (I remember the athletic department trying to get the players to stop parking their cars just anywhere they pleased. Dino basically refused to do anything) I think him coming back would be a disaster.
He was a big benefactor of a good qb, talented overall roster, worst division in NCAA football, and playing NIU in the championship with their top 3 QBs injured. I liked him better than Loeffler, but he wasn’t anything special as you see at Syracuse.

It is a bit of revisionist history. The program went through three coaches in six years. Impossible to keep together recruiting classes during that time. He was an easy fall man for the program decline.

Dino ripped the portal and NIL recently. I think he's struggling in this era of college football where he can't recruit simply on selling an offense that scores a bajillion points. He got his bag though and would probably make a good OC for a P5 program down the road.

Dino being 62 (63 by next season) is insane to me. He runs the most modern offense and has a fun personality. Good for him.

No he literally didn’t make an effort to recruit his last year. He was aware that he would be gone the summer before his last season. His staff recruited, but he personally had no desire to recruit because he knew with his schedule and other factors he would have a few P5 offers. Tough to land impact guys if your head coach isn’t really interested in selling the program.
He certainly shouldn’t be the fall guy for the program being awful after he left, but he certainly wasn’t interested in BG’s future at the end either.

NC Central is now 7-1. Offense is run focused. Coach has a D background. Not super exciting but coach seems solid, players would like him. He's black which is great in a sport that is so dominated by African American players.


One thing I have learned from this look into FCS and D2. FCS is wildly fun and likely more fun than where we are now for what we offer where we are now. There are great teams throughout the West and East and South, but not a ton around us. I assume that's because there are so many MAC teams. While I like where we are I wouldn't object to dropping down and competing for championships at that level.

This Holy Cross and Fordham game is better than any we have played all year.

Missouri Valley is the best conference in fcs and includes midwest. I know their best teams are more west but teams from Iowa, Illinois, and ohio are ranked in that conference.

Famu and NC central coaches are moving up the list on my board and both are now in my top 4

If candle leaves hopefully kehres leaves with him if he's not coming here. I think he's the reason for their success the last few years. Their defense was terrible for years and now it's much improved
