There we plenty of passes and I remember several starters deep into the third qrt. If you want to say you put the breaks on in the 50's or 60's then yes. IF miami of florida and West virginia, etc can keep it under 50 so could BG. If you don't want to score touchdowns you call of the hounds. BG is the last team in the country to complain up running up the score.

Sorry to see it happen to you guys I was cheering for the MAC. I also certainley know what it feels like. NExt year should be a fun one in the MAC.
Second half drives in 04:

Drive 1 (started at 10:19 in the 3rd). 7 rushes including the TD, 1 pass. Omar and most of the starters were pulled after this series.

Drive 2 (Started at 3:15 in the 3rd). 3 rushes, TD

Drive 3 (Started at 14:15 in the 4th). 3rd string - 13 rushes, TD.

Drive 4 (Started at 5:25 in the 4th). Still 3rd string. 3 rushes, punt.

That's 26 rushes and 1 pass, with largely backups and scrubs. Might want to get your memory checked.

WMU head coach Greay Darnell had this to say after the Falcons beat the Broncos 52-0 in November of 2004.

"I want to really congratulate Gregg Brandon, his staff, his football team, because they were absolute class-act today. Anyone that was there, anyone that saw it on TV knows that they could have named the score today. That was huge on Gregg's part."

You Temple fans have very short memories...The Falcons could have run it up on you guys this fall but we pulled our regulars in the 4th qtr and ran the second and third units on both sides of the ball. The coaches took some flak for it because your guys tacked on a couple of meaningless scores that made it look clsoer, but they did the classy thing and pulled the regulars. Just as they did agaisnt WKU, even though some dirty play by WKU cost us our best DT., Brando Curtis for the year due to a knee injury.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

If you check the box score, I think you'll find that Omar was the only BG player to attempt a pass. That's significant, because we used two QBs in the second half of that game.

I also remember Darnell's take on the game during the halftime-run-to-the-locker-room interview with the sideline reporter chick and it went like this:

SCORE Bowling Green 49, Westerm Mich. 0
Reporter: Coach, what do you guys need to do in the second half?
Darnell: I know you're not supposed to say this, but this game is over

BG went on to win the game 52-0, scoring but 3 points in the second half and throwing the ball just twice with the backup qb, both pass attempts to our back up RB in the flat.

Stats:

Actual Darnell quote:
On talking to FSN Ohio sideline reporter Sharon Thorsland at halftime...
"I said, `Sharon, you're not supposed to say stuff like this on TV, but this game's over. We're 49 points down. We've got to move on."
http://bgsufalcons.cstv.com/sports/m-fo ... 04aaf.html

And not only did Darnell congratulate Brandon on being classy, he said if it were a home game for WMU it would have been worse!
"If this would have been at Kalamazoo this would have been a whole lot worse that what it is because you didn't have a choice because you only get take so many guys. And that's exactly what happened in the old days. When Oklahoma and Nebraska came in they could only travel 60 and when they came to your place they couldn't take them out. That would have been the case today."

Yup - Washington ran it straight up the gut quite a bit as the backup QB. I was at that game and remembered how proud I was at the time that we could actively try NOT to score, and still drive down the field running the same play over and over.

I know one thing for sure. We would NEVER have our starting QB in a game with a 49 point lead. ...and have them thowing passes on first down in the opponents red zone with 3:30 left. Bush League.

Flip,

I know you meant to type "Nick Davis". Man I can't wait to see Davis and Haneline back in action next season!!

Kdog,
That was the main reason I got so pissed at Graham. The game was CLEARLY over at the half as Sheehan went down and we couldn't generate any offense without him. At the half, Tulsa had 267 yards of total offense and we had 183...the four fumbles KILLED us....

If we ever get another shot at Graham, it will be interesting to see what happens. And if Coach B is the man in charge, I highly doubt he'd run it up on Graham cuz Brandon is a class act.

Whoops...I always get Curtis and Davis mixed up...they signed the same year and both started out as DT's... :-)

Victory engineer...where are you? One pass in the second half. Period. That's how you get the game over quick and look ahead to the following week.

As the starter of this thread I request it be closed as it has clearly lost the focus on ripping Todd "Golden" Graham. I hope that this is the last post in this thread.

...had his team waaaaaaaay better prepared than Gregg Brandon had the Falcons prepared.

...thought it was hilarious, after seeing the transcript of the chat on azz.com, that the conversation turned to "American Gladiators" halfway through the 1st quarter.
