Offensive schemes are.

Dead?
Makes you wonder if this is why the bigger programs have quality control analysts (assuming they aren't being tasked with managing a network of sign-stealing activities  ). Take the best plays that work across different formations, throw them together and there's your game plan for each week.

One thing I did find interesting from one of SL's recent press conferences is when Quinton Morris visited the team in Buffalo, he mentioned that the plays BG runs made the transition to the NFL easier for him. Essentially that the Bills run the same plays but under different call names. I thought that was kind of cool, and makes you wonder how difficult it can be for some college kids to make that leap if their calls are overly simplistic.

I never got that "he didn't recruit bit" He was only here two years...he had one full recruiting season. Impossible to judge him based on that
It is a bit of revisionist history. The program went through three coaches in six years. Impossible to keep together recruiting classes during that time. He was an easy fall man for the program decline.

Dino ripped the portal and NIL recently. I think he's struggling in this era of college football where he can't recruit simply on selling an offense that scores a bajillion points. He got his bag though and would probably make a good OC for a P5 program down the road.
No he literally didn’t make an effort to recruit his last year. He was aware that he would be gone the summer before his last season. His staff recruited, but he personally had no desire to recruit because he knew with his schedule and other factors he would have a few P5 offers. Tough to land impact guys if your head coach isn’t really interested in selling the program.
He certainly shouldn’t be the fall guy for the program being awful after he left, but he certainly wasn’t interested in BG’s future at the end either.
[/quote]
As much s**t as Babers gets he’s the only coach going back what 30 years to win a bowl game and a MAC championship here. I was never his biggest fan or anything but much of his reputation wasn’t sullied until after Mike Jinks figured out he was in over his head as a college head coach and needed to blame someone and many fans ate it up. Had they made the right hire after him hardly anyone would have much bad to say about him.

Here is my list after the last week

Many of these guys will be available next year as well.

1 Bob Chesney HC Holy Cross 6-3
2 Brent Vigen HC Montana St 7-2
3 Brian Wright HC Pittsburg St 9-1

4 Willie Simmons HC FAMU 8-1
-3 of the top 4 are Offensive guys and Chesney just fits the Simon bill of having built programs at more than one place.
-Wright is D2 but he has experience at Toledo
-I like Montana St offense and their OC is from Ashland

5 Vince Kehres DC Toledo 8-1
6 Trei Oliver HC NC Central 8-1

-Kehres had success at Mt Union and has been great at Toledo, but he is a D guy
-Oliver is more of a running, simplistic offense from what I can tell

7 Brennan Marion OC UNLV 7-2
8 Scott Abell HC Davidson 7-2

-Marion is having success at UNLV and the offense is solid
-Abbell is the newest addition to this group, he is a bit older and boring, but he has offensive experience, tons of high school connections and just put up 61 last week. He and Wright don't seem like they have to be risers like others would likely be. They might settle here.

9 Matt Entz HC NDSU 6-3
10 Kevin Johns OC Duke 6-3

One caveat with Kehres and his success at Mt Union...they were really good before he got there and they've been really good since he left. How much f the success can be attributed to him?

Great point. It's been fun tracking and watching more FCS this season for sure. But that's a complete blindspot for me. I have no idea about Pittsburg States success over the years.

I'd say we could add Harbaugh to the list -- but he'll likely end up with a show cause from the NCAA before this is all done, and won't want to sit out that long. Plus, his ego would never let him come to a MAC school.

I'd take Jack or John Harbaugh....not Jim. lol.

Coach Loeffler will be back next year, no question. And we have a shot at 8-4, which is what I thought he needed to do this season.

Crybaby Ryan Day had stolen signs for Michigan and still lost to them...

The only hope we really have is that he doesn't receive an extension.

Going to add these guys to the spreadsheet soon.

Lots of great names on the list. Watching D2 and FCS has been fun. It's better than the MAC IMO in terms of excitement. I would love to move down and fight for an FCS championship.

Willy Korn OC Liberty
Mike Shannahan OC James Madison
Bobby Hauck HC Montana
Kerwin Bell HC W Carolina
Andy Thompson HC Sac State
Andy Avalos Former Boise HC
Scotty Walden HC Austin Peay
Paul Simmons HC Harding
Chris Reisert HC Tiffin
Channis Berry HC Benedict
Todd Stepsis HC Drake
Doug Phillips HC Youngstown St

Sherrone Moore is going to be a full time P5 HC soon...quite possibly at Michigan

Ive left those guys off. He is likely a head coach somewhere. Same with OC at Kansas. WRs coach and OC at Washington. OC at FSU.

2 guys that are interesting that are OCs are UNLVs Brennan Marion. I would bet he gets a power 5 coordinator job and won't jump to a G5 head job.
A guy we might be interested in is Brennan Carroll from Arizona. But his head coach could be move on and he could be a candidate in Arizona or follow him to another job.
