Right now we don't know if he's better than Matt McDonald

I know Globe is just stirring the pot, but I think the fair expectation is that the guy is Matt McDonald v2.0. Here's the big issue, for me, this is exactly what Loeffler WANTS.

McDonald threw over 900 collegiate passes (all but 8 at BGSU). He averaged a whopping 6.7 yards per attempt on those passes, finally had a career year last year at 7.0. Through 700 career passes Bazelek has averaged an even worse 6.4. To make matters worse that yards per attempt has gone down each of the past 2 seasons.

I fully expect another year of dinking and dunking and refusing to air the ball out down the field. That will make life all the more difficult for our talented RBs who will be playing against tight boxes behind an OL that we don't even think is enrolled at BGSU yet. Our HC handpicked his QB from his previous stop, threw away one season waiting on him to be eligible, then we got to watch a bottled up junk offense for 3 years. That guy graduates and he went out into the portal and found another QB who has no desire/ability to get the ball downfield.

Yippeee....

I'm both hopeful and skeptical for this season, and I think that's a healthy place to be in April.

Looking forward to being pissed off and pessimistic come September.

HOW DARE YOU.

I don't disagree with anything here but Bazelek was a top 14 ranked QB in the country and a 4 star recruit for an SEC team where he made a ton of starts. Obviously everything you say is true but maybe with a slower game in the MAC vs SEC and Big Ten things will slow down a bit. I am excited to see what he can do.

I love your optimism man.

I hope like hell we get the version of him from some of those highlights. Watched a bit of that LSU clip and 2 things stand out to me: He was delivering some nice balls to various levels of the field. He saw almost zero pressure.

If we cannot protect him his own abilities may not matter. IF we can protect him hopefully that version of him is still there, because his arm talent is definitely a notch (or 5) above McDonald's.

Love this! I feel like you could copy this post, leave blanks to fill in the applicable months of the year, and then paste into post about how any Falcon fan feels about any upcoming sports season over the last 8-10 years. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well done!!

Bazelak got "pretty banged up" ( per his coach) last year and had a less than stellar stats. Thinking this coach is going to put together an OL that can protect the QB long enough for his offense to work is beyond optimistic... It borders on delusional.

What concerns me the most is SL saying they're going to fix his mechanical flaws...like we didn't hear that for years with McDonald.

I think three or four wins is going to be it for us this year

Jones might be a big loss, he had started at corner a bit. My guess is that he wasn't starting on the 2 deep in spring and bolted. Holly and Jennings were still competing for snaps. This is expected attrition after seeing how things align in Spring.

OL remains the only issue and something they are targeting.

Perhaps can best be answered by rogue: Are the transfers at this point in the season typically players that a) are told by the coaches they won’t see the field much, b) players that decide this isn’t the place for them anymore or c) a mix of both?

Can’t speak to specifics on each, but if a player has no hope, or if they are a problem to the team in some way, they are made clear by coaches to move on. I think anyone else hitting the portal NOW either doesnt truly want to play anymore or learned in spring they hate their new coach, or have no chance, or both. Some knew they were leaving and took their last free semester. Not a wise time to bolt (unless you got an offer recently) or are in desperation mode.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

If true, the timing will be about right. Our AD now has experience hiring two coaches for prominent sports -- with football (and maybe hockey) in the on-deck circle.

There will be some renovations at the Doyt this offseason. They are implementing some new box suites in the south endzone where the tents were, and they are also removing the plastic chairbacks in sections 13-16AU. They also plan to change the party deck a bit, and they are going to "enhance" the concessions options around the stadium.

The release says that these items are based on responses to a recent survey sent to season ticket holders.

Tickets for the game at Michigan on 9/16 are also now on sale. $55 to sit in the BG section. Anyone planning to go?
