Repeating an idea so often that it becomes accepted reality has worked quite well for many political administrations.

I'd go anywhere but Hawaii. Nothing against Hawaii, of course -- but that's *serious* coin.
I'm with SF. It would more than likely be just me but that's the way it goes!

The truly interesting thing will be, IF NIU wins out and gets to the MACC game, if GMAC wants us - they get the first choice, and we'd be 9-2. Believe it or not, we have some popularity in Alabama after our win there last year - we actually won some fans rather than pissing them all off for beating 'Bama. So the GMAC folks may see the Huskies as a good local draw, in addition to our new found status as an excellent travelling fan base.

If that happens, I could certainly see the MCB taking BG over UT and Marshall (assuming NIU were to then win the MACC game), especially if you beat both. It'll be a hell of a win if you can win in Toledo, but Marshall is certainly one you can take (beat the crap out 'em, willya!?!). Even if you lose to UT, I'm not sure it'll matter much simply because I don't see UT winning @Miami and @NIU.

Good points Dan....Bottom line is BG has 5 games left and we need to take them one at a time. I love all the bowl talk but there is half a season to go!

DD- sorry must have missed you say that about the down payment.

Dan- good points, I hop eyou are right about toledo going down in Oxford, we could really use a loss there as well as to you guys.

I have almost accepted the fact that we wont win the division. Based on the NIU outlook, and what may or maynot be the correct ite breaking rules, it looks like unless NIU wins twice we are SOL. That said, I thi we can still get the MCB or another bowl. Right now I just want to win our games, and watch toleod lose so we can claim a solid 2nd place to a superb NIU squad. Id like to have won, but can we really say there is any shame to losing that game? I dont think so. WE looked bad, but they are no pushover, they earned that win, and may have gotten it even had we played like we did the past few weeks.

but, it's midway through the season and this is when all the hype about BCS and bowl games starts. I think you will find that everyone on this thread has stated the same sentiments of "if we win out, if we beat Marshall, and if we beat Toledo". No one is overlooking the rest of the schedule. Actually, the biggest reward of taking care of the regular season schedule is getting rewarded with a bowl game and the money that goes along with it. If there were no such thing as a championship or a bowl game, would the regular season record matter as much??? other than for bragging rights??? Let's face it...we live in a society in which folks want to be rewarded for a job well done and if BG wins 9 games this season, we should be rewarded and not be told that we should have beaten NIU.

GO BG!!! and beat OU. :supz:

Don't be so quick to give up. If NIU loses a game and we win out, there is absolutely nothing wrong with sharing the MAC West title. I would certainly rather have a share tvs. nothing at all. Nobody will remember who came in second, but the west co-champ will be remembered as a champion. I certainly don't forget how 2 years ago we could have been co-champs with NIU, but we were left out in the cold (literally) because we couldn't finish the job up North and instead, UT and NIU were co-champs.

Im not giving up on the MAC west, i may have explain it wrong. I don think we will play for the MACC. A division share would be great. But im not getting my hopes up for NIU to drop 2 games.

I'm not seeking to burst bubbles, but if NIU does drop one game, and we do win out, the Huskies still take the outright title by beating us head-to-head.

BG needs to keep winning and those with some sway must continue to beat the drum for a bowl bid.

We would still be co-champs, but NIU would go to the MACC game to compete for the west, since they beat us head to head. The same held true 2 years ago. NIU was the co-champ with UT, even though UT beat them head to head, but UT went to the title game. The title is based on the MAC record, not head to head, but who goes to the game is based on head to head.

I'll take it if we can get it. Is that the offical league view? If so, I'd like to declare BGSU the 1994 MAC Co-Champion.

That's the technicality of it. We list MAC West co-champs from a couple years ago, though we all know that didn't really get us anywhere.
