It's the Journey... wrote:With the AD standing with Brandon, for now, it's time to look at other options. Maybe it is time to shuffle duties amongst the staff. Perhaps Stud is not the right OC for us right now, or maybe he is a great OC but needs to be down on the field with the players. The decision to move him up was huge. I think the entire staff needs to sit down and decide if changes in their duties are needed. Maybe we have the correct people in place, but they are in the wrong roles. Right now, anything is worth trying.
Great point, ITJ...I was thinking the other day the staff needs a shakeup in duties. As much as the staff needs to sit down and evaluate the players, it needs to sit down and evaluate itself. What I want is a championship level program and the right people have to be in the right spots, top to bottom.

I guess that pretty much sums up my feelings on the season. You said it very well in your article, Freak. I respect the young people that wear the orange and brown. I just do not think we gave them the opportunities to be as successful as they could have been. And that is a shame.

Next year, the youth excuse will be gone, and I hope that they work hard not to "run out of gas" at the end of the season. If the coaching staff does the evaluation you advocate, and they take responsibility for this season, call it unacceptable, and strive for that Champoinship level, we will be in better humour next year.

My question is- after the debacle at Temple(I saw it- boy were we flat- and the coaches were too), why didn't our staff get together THEN and figure out how to put the wheels back on? Did we just use the excuses of youth and tiredness to explain away the obvious? I hope the excuses stop, our special teams get better and we find the open man.

Last comment for me on 2006. Thank you to the seniors who represented BGSU. I hope you are all heading for your degrees and I will be proud to call you fellow alums!
