Oop. You're right. I should have added that originally to make a better point of jumping divisions.

I bet we move back to the west when Temple is fully added. Watch.

If victory engineer (Temple fan on the MACbbs board) is right, he has Temple's 2007 schedule and BG is not on it, but the rest of the East is. So, it sounds like BG might be moving back to the West and it just hasn't been announced yet. All divisional teams have to play each other from what I understand, so.................

And yes, Temple is a full football member starting with 2007 and will be in the East Division.

As for liking the MAC, I'm not liking the MAC much these days either. I really hope Toledo can get the hell out before it explodes. The MAC leadership is failing us all.

Man, all I can say is we had BETTER NOT be moving back to the West again or I’m going to blow a gasket! We’ve already done the “East-to-West-to-East” shuffle, leave us the hell alone. And if this happens based on Temple joining the MAC, I will explode. Think about this though, with 13 teams in the MAC in football now, 7 in the East and 6 in the West, it doesn’t make sense to move anyone to the West from the East. Then, you’d just have the same problem but on the other side, the West would have 7 teams and the East would have 6. I never liked the idea of adding Temple in the first place. The idea about adding a team from a large market was a wash IMO with Temple. No one really cares about Temple in Philly let alone the eastern seaboard.

I have no information about Bowling Green being moved. As stated above it does not benefit anyone to move Bowling Green.

It appears that one team in the east will not play another. It just so happens Temple will not play Bowling Green this year. I think its a shame since it could actually be an interesting game after last years "debacle".

Under NCAA Division I Bylaw 17.11.5.2(c), a conference can host a championship game and exclude it from the 12-game regular season maximum only under the following circumstances:

"(c) Twelve-Member Conference Championship Game. A conference championship game between division champions of a member conference of 12 or more institutions that is divided into two divisions (of six or more institutions each), each of which conducts round-robin, regular-season competition among the members of that division."

How strictly defined is round robin? How strictly defined is "amongst members". I don't see anything in that bylaw that clearly states that everyone MUST play everyone else

I always thought that was what round robin meant. I am sure, however, that we are not going to do anything that jeopardizes the MAC Champ.

My understanding is that round robin means you play everone in your bracket at least once.

Looks like BG may be heading to the West..........again.

Anyone want to write a song about the "divisional shuffle"? Make it bluesy.

The definiiton of round robin I'm most concerned about is the NCAA's. I'm too lazy to look in the bylaws to see if they define it.

As the 2000 elections taught us...many simple terms can be viewed as ambiguous if you look at them through the right prism.

The only thing that would make sense in moving BG to the West would be that the MAC or Chryst believes (or has already been told) that they will lose a West Division school in the near future and moving BG to the West evens things out to 6 and 6 when that happens. Now, losing a West Division school......what does that mean? A school will drop from I-A? A school will leave for another I-A conference? A school is going Independent?

Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense to move BG. Why does it matter if there are 7 teams in the East or West?

Especially when it would lead to all other sports having divisions of 7 and 5. Or if you say that BG moves to the West only for football, then what is the point of that???

They probably plan to add a team in the future who will join the East. Western Kentucky? Youngstown State? I can picture Chryst at the head of the classroom in front of all the MAC AD's sitting at their school desks, asking for a volunteer to move to the West, with our puppet AD enthusiastically shooting his hand in another up in the air: "Me, me, me!!!!"

Or maybe BG privately whined that it wasn't "fair" they had to play Toledo each year as a cross-over game, theoretically making their conference schedule than everyone else in the East division?

I wondered about this adding a team thing. Still, didn't WKU already join the Sun Belt.

Yes, I believe WKU joined the Sun Belt this year, but I guess they could always switch in 2008 or whenever like so many other schools have been jumping around.
