Helmets change, players change, uniforms change. Sometimes I like it sometimes I don't.
Changes in uniforms and logos tend to bump sales of merchandise slightly as fans have to re-do their wardrobe. Since we're not the Yankees, we -- and most other programs our size-- don't have the luxury of staying the same over the years. As much as I'd like that, I'm faced with the inevitibilty that our uniforms will change every few years.
For those of you who've never seen this before, here's a link to the history of our helmets back to '60:

Urban did in fact change our unis.
We changed to adidas unis and he took BOWLING GREEN off of the front. Blackney always had BOWLING GREEN on the front, then Urban's first year we had adidas, drop shadow numbers with no BOWLING GREEN. The only identifier was a tiny, crooked Falcon head (L-T) on the collar.
Urban actually added some black to Utah and he also had new Nike jerseys for Florida last season, but they weren't ready in time.

all bowling green
I don't like the new helmet because I still think the traditional "LT" logo is by far our best logo. I like it infinitely better than any of the new ones, including the interlocking BG thing.
As for the jerseys I wish we would change those back to what we had in Blackney's years. I don't like our current jerseys at all.

They could have done TONS worse with the new helmet, I'd say.
There's an awful lot of mud in that season tickets ad... I wonder if that means they decided against the fake stuff...

Let it be known that alum didn't beat around the bush. In fact, he chopped it down, burned it, buried its ashes and then buried the shovel.1987alum wrote:I hate it.
H-A-T-E. It.
I hate it.
Unequivocally. Without question. No hesitation. Hate. It.

This isn't the first time TG has answered one of my posts about the traditional falcon with a "classy?". He should know by now that I hate the traditional outline falcon with a passion, and that no response about it will ever be classy.Rightupinthere wrote:You expected something different?TG1996 wrote:Classy.bgsufalcon24 wrote:I'm not a huge fan of the B-G, but its an improvement because we get rid of that stupid ass outline falcon. Thanks for being so blunt RUIT. 8)
I hate to break this to everyone, but the logo switch isn't because it "looks better."
The interlocking BG with the "peek-a-boo" Falcon is being used to make our symbol more identifiable. Our logo is actually the perfect one when you consider that you name the whole school in one logo (Bowling Green Falcons).
The use of the interlocking BG with the Falcon will really help especially when talking about things such as ESPN coverage.
