I agree for the most part, but lest we forget Boise St. last year and Urban Meyer's Utes 3 years ago in the both in the Fiesta Bowl. Granted, it's rare, but it can happen. But the mid-majors have zero room for error.GoFalcons118 wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVENWl8uBeg
but seriously, michigan has shown yet again that they cannot handle a team with a mobile QB.
the real sad part of this from the standpoint of a BG or any other mid-major fan, despite the loss to a 1-AA team, michigan can STILL make the rose bowl by winning the weak big eleven (wisconsin down early to wazzou 14-7). yet, when a MAC or any other mid-major has a great season, they can't sniff the big bowls. and god forbid they have a down week and are upset like UM was today.
App ST. blocks UM FG Wins 34-32!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even as embarrassing as this is for UM , I don't agree that the season is over for Michigan. They could still pull together and win 10,11 more games win the Big Ten title and go to a BCS bowl and make a ton of money again. To be honest before this game I didn't believe that Michigan had a NC caliber D anyway and this game confirmed it.Rollo83 wrote:It's 4 pm on Saturday of opening weekend...and Michigan's season is over for all practical purposes.

This is starting to become a trend for the Maize and Blue early in the season. Does anyone recall Ball St. almost pulling this same feat against them at the beginning of last season?
I can't imagine what that stadium sounded like when the clock struck 0:00.

The BSU game last year was not at the beginning of the season, but the point remains. Time and time again, Michigan starts the season looking like crap. It has to be time for Lloyd Carr to go, no matter how loyal the AD wants to be. This is ridiculous.Bleeding Orange wrote:This is starting to become a trend for the Maize and Blue early in the season. I went to a graduation ceremony at Appalachian State a few years back...it's a really great looking campus and they have facilities that would put them near the top of the MAC. They may be 1AA in name, but they have 1A materials.
What a great win!!!

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
No...it is over! Michigan had National Championship aspirations. Those are gone now. I don't care how many games they win the rest of the way, or what bowl game they play in...their season ended today at 3:45 p.m. EST. Make no mistake about that!falconboy wrote:Even as embarrassing as this is for UM , I don't agree that the season is over for Michigan. That locker room is going to be a mess the rest of the way. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose a two or three few more before its over.

Hyperbole, much? The season isn't over. They can still win a crappy B11 and go to the Rose Bowl. You go try and tell Henne, Hart, and Jake Long that their season is over.Rollo83 wrote:No...it is over! Michigan had National Championship aspirations. Those are gone now. As long as UM beats OSU at the end of season , that will help to wipe this one away......a little.Rollo83 wrote:No...it is over! Michigan had National Championship aspirations. Those are gone now. Go ask one of the coaches voting in the USA Poll if they can envision a scenario where they would vote UM either #1 or #2 and a chance to go to the title game. Try and run the numbers in the BCS formula where UM recovers from this and gets a title shot. Not!
Sure UM will play the schedule out and they could win the Big Ten and make a Rose Bowl apperance. But Hart & Long skipped the NFL to come back and win a National Championship.
It's over...take the maize and blue shades off! Long live Lloyd Carr!

Congrats to Appy State! I'm surprise UofM was able to close to within two. Obviously Appalachian State was looking past UofM in the second half for their big game next week against Lenoir-Rhyne.

Hail, to those...wait, nevermind. It's a great day when a big dog get smacked in their own house. Michigan loses, OSU wins, Valparaiso wins, hopefully BG can complete the sweep for me. However, to Michigan's credit, if you are going to drop one to a team from what is considered a "lower" division then it had better be the defending National Champion. The only National Championship ring Michigan will see this year is the one glistening on the fingers of App. State's players as they board the bus on the way out of hell.
