I don't think I've ever seen it spelled with six.
I believe the correct word is, in fact, Pfffffttt.

That's 1 P, five fs and three ts.

I'd need to reference Strunk & White to be sure, but that's my educated opinion.

:)

I believe that Bill The Cat is the definitive resource here and he disagrees with both of you....

I thought Bill was more of an "Aaaaack" guy....

I prefer the more formal "piffle" nonetheless....

I can't believe I am even going to acknowledge this thread. But here it goes:

Corey ruptured the ligament that holds the thumb in place. That means it is completely torn. That also means that he cannot move the thumb and cannot use it to put any pressure on any objects. i.e. it is unusable.

If he had just broken a finger, we all would be much happier, here's to wishing Corey had broken one of his fingers. Believe me he could still catch the ball with a broken finger, he has four of those on each hand as opposed to only one thumb on each hand.

Just for those who are uninformed and have an inability to grasp concepts of what the thumb really means to a persons ability to do day to day things, yes including catching a football, I found this little exercise. Please go to the link and give it a try. Maybe you will be enlightened about a part of your anatomy that you take for granted.

http://www.accessexcellence.org/AE/AEPC ... sable.html

And when you have finished that little experiment, have one of your friends throw a football as hard as he can right at your face and attempt to catch it with your thumbs still taped. Bet it hits you right in the nose.

After that go out and separate not one but both of your shoulders and then try to play 6 football games at the D1 level, catching the football and blocking linebackers and see how that feels. Oh, my bad, Corey has already done that for you so you can skip it.

Falconballer, the next time you sit down to masturbate, just imagine how much the degree of pleasure would be lowered if you didn't have a thumb on that hand.

I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that. Falconballer can think whatever he wants about Corey. It doesn't matter, its his opinion. Just be sure you know all the facts first.

You obviously have something against Corey, because if you truly played with Corey as you said you did, then you wouldn't be saying those things. Because you would know that if he could be on the field he would be. Its been a bad year for him, the luck that it takes to make it thru a season without significant injury has not been there for him. Maybe it will be next year, that is if his hand will heal well enough to allow him to once again catch a football. If not you will see him playing special teams and maybe some defense. That would mean his career as a receiver would be over and I guess you would be happy then.

I *HATE* the "+1" thing... passion... suns... etc.

But yeah... +2

Here's hoping Corey gets healthy quick so he can mastu... um, catch passes again. (And really, just be able to use his thumb again soon...for anything, really.)

Damn, Spart, you just lopped a guy off at the knees with one sentence. Simple artistry.

I hope Cory get's better. It doesn't sound like recovery is going to be much fun.

I perhaps jumped to conculsions about corey's injury. Next time I will get the facts before listening to people on this board that think they know what they are talking about. I totally agree sparta about the thumb being very important. With a thumb injury it is more of a hand injury. But all that aside history is not forgotten all the other times corey has gotten hurt and not played. (ankle sprain, shoulders, all the countless more) There are ways to deal with such injuries and they are called shots. Now a shot is going to do nothing for his current injury but that past doesnt lie. He has trouble with pain. Thats all Im saying, and in my eyes that is toughness. I have nothing against corey, I think he is a great guy and very gifted football player, but he tends to sit out games when if he really really wanted to could play. This current injury aside from that comment.

Wow. The dude is so small I can't believe that Corey isn't a soccer player as it is and you are still calling him out? In the program he is listed at 5'11", 184lbs. And I bet that is stretching it. Lichtensteiger probably has taken dumps bigger than Corey. And yet he goes over the middle and takes on LBs much bigger than him and gets wacked trying to catch passes and you still think he isn't tough? Baller, you really need to step back and evaluate your life a bit.

Lets see,

Freshman year - 1 game with 2 separated shoulders

Sophomore year - 2 games with torn MCL

Junior year - 1 game bad ankle sprain

and now it looks like 4 games torn ligament on thumb

Man those excuses to miss games really suck, come on Corey suck it up and get on the field.....

Forgot to comment about this. It is foolish for NFL players who get paid millions of dollars to risk further injuring themselves because they took a shot to numb the pain. It is ignorant to expect a 20 year old college player to risk sustaining life altering injury just to be able to play in a simple game of football.
