Caught 2 for 23 on the first two drives of the game, and I don't know that they went back to him. Was told by a neutral observer (BG wise, he's a Browns fan) that one of the grabs was pretty nice, in traffic.
TG,
I saw the catch (replayed from different angle on TV)....looked good from the main shot...even better from the endzone cam. Leaped in the air while running to his left...reached back for the slightly underthrown ball, came down in a heap. But that was the LAST catch for him, and I didn't see any other balls thrown his way...seems like they were trying to make their high draft pick of a couple of years ago look better (caught 6 I think)...I'm hoping that Steve finally gets a break as he's very versatile, can play ALL the WR positions, and has excellent hands.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Perhaps good for Steve, but awful for the Browns. Cannot remember a team losing their two top kick return men in the preseason before...hopefully Steptoe and/or Cribbs get back healthy soon.
Steve's one catch was a great grab, Quinn's pass was a touch behind him and he made a very nice play on the ball to bring it in. They pulled Steve out of the game after that drive. I think they're beginning to think they need to keep some of these guys healthy. Jurevicius is on the PUP, Cribbs & Steptoe are hurt, they're going to need somebody out there to catch passes.
I tell ya what too. They pulled Quinn out ASAP after he put up two nice scoring drives. That looks like a sign to me they're not real confident that Derek will be back for the opener, at least that's what it looked like. I don't know why else they wouldn't leave the backup out there for awhile longer.
Was at the game last night and Steve did well...although I wish they would have thrown to him more. PJ didn't get into the game for the Bears until after we left at the end of the 3rd. It was a school night so we couldn't stay the whole game.
I know now why I don't care for NFL games anymore. The prices are unreal. $7 for a beer?? $4 for a bottle of water? We were in Section 508 and the tix were $70 EACH....for preseason. It was the first Browns game I've been to since 1995...and the last. I didn't pay for the tickets and won't.
Screw the NFL. I'm sticking with college and high school.

Supply & demand man
I prefer college football, but the NFL is the premium product on the field. As I've said before I actually think the prices for NFL games are better than they are at a lot of BCS stadiums I've been to, at least ticket prices are. I pretty much don't buy anything once I get in the stadiums.
Actually aren't bottled beverages $3 a pop at BG now?

Absolutely. Supply and demand. And I think the bottled beverages at BG are $3 now. That's why we go out to the parking lot at halftime.

We are so freaking spoiled at BG man. One of our doctors was talking about how he dropped a couple hundred bucks to watch the USC/OSU game this year (just tickets). I told him that my season tickets were like $180.
And I want to see you try to get out to your car from an OSU game at halftime...no freaking way, you'd miss the entire 3rd quarter.
I'd love for BG to move up to a BCS conference, and I definitely want them to compete with those schools on the field, but the fact is we're spoiled with the bargains we get. We've got a great tailgating atmosphere that is not subject to over-regulation. We can get great seats for an affordable price. The product on the field could be better, but for what we pay we're getting a helluva lot more for our money, IMO.
And our students if they choose to do so, can enjoy all the athletic events they want to for free. OSU and other BCS schools make their students pay for football and basketball tickets.

That's mostly just a matter of moving numbers around. OSU students don't contribute to intercollegiate athletics through there general funds nearly as much as BG students do (if at all).
word is, no surprise, Pope is being let go...ashame, thought he should have stayed over Wolfe but was certaing they weren't going to let Wolfe go so early...had a little hope when they released WMich Dan Bauzin (2nd rd pick a few years ago) that JA had gotten over his pride issue (See: keeping Cedric Benson over Thomas Jones), but alas, he couldn't do it.
