It sure doesn't sound like these guys have come together as a team (even after this many weeks since Pitt I'm still amazed). Football has to have an element of fun and all we get is back biting. Unfortunately, as long as we're in the race for the east we won't see anything that ressembles "opening up the offense" and "turning loose the defense (blitz?)". GB must now be starting to feel some heat and he's already starting to play scared. Welcome to GB's next rebuilding year if he can't pull this team together.

Spart, I appreciate your incites when it comes to Cory not being on the field. I certainly don't want to see Cory get hurt. But, if the coach is afraid a player might get injured, why let said player on the field at all? If they want to limit his game time, I'd rather see him on the field on third down rather that first and second, and in the second half more than the first. have your best players on the field at critical moments.Spart43 wrote:In the coaches defense, they may be using him sparely in an attempt to make sure he doesn''t get too beat up and get injured again. He struggles with some physical problems from his injuries, but he gives everything he has. So maybe they are giving him everything he can handle and maybe he can get thru a complete season and continue to contribute as much as he can. I know each game he plays this season is a gift and a blessing and when he ends a game uninjured I am extremely happy.
And again, I certainly don't want Cory to get hurt, but, what would the coaches really need to save him for? (Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm afraid it might not come across the right way) He's a Senior. He's a captain. He's our best WR. You want to save him to try to ensure he gets to play in a meaningless Toledo game at the end of the season, while having him stand on the sidelines while any chance of a MAC title waste away as we lose to EMU and Miami at home? Doesn't make sense to me.
Again, I appreciate your attempt to try and justify the coaches logic, but that just doesn't make sense to me.

Well said, Hammb. My dad and I just couldn't muster after the game to care about the rest of the season's results. We were both calling the plays from the stands and some of the parents around us that were visiting for the weekend seriously asked if we worked with the football team, because we were about right 90% of the time. The lack of emotion, passion and intensity displayed by both the players and coaches show just how lackluster of a program Brandon has running right now. Combine that with discipline problems and boneheaded offensive plays, and it's like being forced to watch a Martha Stewart marathon with your grandma.
As a student in my last year, I am extremely disappointed at how this season has gone, especially at home. With only 5 games at home, you'd think some extra emphasis would be placed on these games. Instead, we've seen a team come out and play 3 quarters of football in 3 total home games, and those 3 quarters were in the Minnesota game.
My dad and I went to the Pitt game and we both are just disgusted and sickened at how far this team has regressed. Where is that team from the 1st week of the season? What happened to the defense shutting down the run and tackling well? The offense has been a train wreck all season, and that's a subject for another time.
All in all, as far as this season goes, I'm through with it. I can't force myself to watch this team play at home anymore given the terrible efforts we've seen. I've got better things to do with my time. Honestly, the 4-8 season we had is looking better than this one, because that club at least played hard and gave a rat's ass for most of the season.
After the Tulsa game, I told AD Christopher that giving Brandon an extension was a bad move. I wasn't convinced even after an 8-4 season that he should be here anymore. The Tulsa embarrassment confirmed that further, and this season so far has cemented that fact into my head. He's a stubborn coach who still will not accept responsibility for his team's poor play, lack of discipline and poor execution, and refuses to change anything offensively. We've become as dull as a middle school team's offense.
End of rant.

I agree, I am baffled by it. He worked extremely hard just to be able to play this season and he would play every snap if he was allowed. Corey doesn't talk about it and just does what is asked of him. I get upset sometimes when I see him standing on the sidelines when its 3rd down and 4 or 5 and we really need a 1st down. I agree with what you say, what are they saving him for? I was just commenting on a theory about what the coaches are thinking. This isn't over yet, this team can still win the East but they are going to have to get it together this week.Warthog wrote:Spart, I appreciate your incites when it comes to Cory not being on the field.
