That doesnt make sense. if it was an all you can eat buffet it would cost them less.daspollak wrote:If it is an all you can eat buffet, he will break UT's bank. [quote="dannyk"] The 53-year-old former Toledo offensive lineman is being re-assigned within the school's athletic department, sources say.

All kidding aside, here's wishing the him the best. At least he was loyal to his program, and had a number of good seasons. All the best in his future endeavors.

A lot of people have a problem with having a special day for a guy who dedicated nearly thirty years of his life to the University as a player, assistant coach and head coach, who served as an ambassador for the university and a nationally known face that attracted a fair amount of positive attention to the university. People feel that if you start giving loyal people like that their own day it might set a precedent of other employees acting that way and then where would we be?Falcon Fanatic wrote:....And according to the toledo board, the BG game will be Tom Amstutz Day....wow....
Is it just me or does this seem strange after all the crap that has gone on in his program? He may be a really nice guy, but.... :
As for the crap that goes on in his program- well I guess there won't be a Gregg Brandon Day, huh?

Who said we were wanting one? huh?h2oville rocket wrote:As for the crap that goes on in his program- well I guess there won't be a Gregg Brandon Day, huh?
in all seriousness though, aside from the crap that's been coming up there, he's done plenty of things for the University and I'll just second what others have said by saying that I wish him the best of luck. It's a shame though that we can't beat him one last time in the Glass Bowl though

I thought the same thing. Maybe not to "reassign" him at the end of the year, but to announce it during a blah week in the middle of the season. But maybe they wanted to get the bounce from the announcement against BG without turning that week into a distraction for the team.Schadenfreude wrote:Am I the only one who thinks that, on its face, this was a quick pull of trigger?
They call the guy Toledo Tom. He's probably the closest thing MCO is ever going to have to Joe Paterno.
It just seems a little quick.

It is BiG news alright. I think he was probably gone after the season since it doesn't look like he was gonna turn it around.
We MUST beat him Nov 28....period. That would give him a 4-4 record vs BG. I am sick and tired of losing at the glAss Bowl.
Hope he takes time to get himself into shape...he's a walking heart attack.
He had a heck of a record after 5 years but since then, he's done a Gary Blackney.

Well, not necessarily......can you say Jay Paterno?Schadenfreude wrote:Am I the only one who thinks that, on its face, this was a quick pull of trigger?

I wouldn't call it quick. Three straight losing seasons for the first time since the 70's is not something quick. Heck, Joplin was let go just one year removed from a MAC regular season title.
