Dude, its not about what colors you bleed. Its about the difference between Toledo and BGSCC. The difference that the Kool aid drinkers around here refuse to acknowledge is that though Toledo and BG are in the same conference, Toledo is considered a "step-up". Its not like these gentlemen are making lateral career moves here, they are taking giant steps up. No one likes to get stuck in BG too long, because after awhile you realize that your career will end up in the crapper. Coach Brandon realized that before he took the red eye flight out to UNLV to beg for that job. If he would have landed that gig, im sure the sky would have been the limit for Coach Brandon. Instead he was unable to get the UNLV gig and ended up watching his career tank out in front of BG's pathetic fans. his words, not mine. Urban realized it when he said that if you knew him or his family you would know that BG is the place for him. A week after making those comments he left for Utah. A lateral move? To you folks in AZZ land, sure it is. But to everyone else in the know, it was definitely a step up and a step in the right direction.Turning Tricks Falcon wrote:Yep, Ward and Campbell obviously bled Orange and Brown.
I welcome Coaches Ward and Campbell into the Rocket family. Hopefully they can help restore Toledo back to the top of the MAC where they belong.

Actually, in all seriousness.......in terms of pay Toledo is a step up. The question now is will BG end that trend with their new coaching staff? I doubt it. Cross and his assistants make much more than Orr and his assistants so why would it be different for football.transfer2BGSU wrote:TJRocket wrote:... Toledo is considered a "step-up". $$$ are only a "part" of what makes a good work place. There is a reason TPS pays more than BG City Schools, and there is a reason Alaska pays more for their teachers than Florida, in general. I don't think there are many people who would rate the TPS bertter than the BG schools and the same applies to UT. It's all about choice, and if that is what you like, so be it, but you won't persuade any people here!

They took the job because it was exactly that, a job during uncertain times.
As for the fans, I didnt see too many in the gl_ASS bowl a few weeks ago after such a stellar season.
Funny post.

There's a reason that Northern Virginia pays their teachers better than anywhere else in the country, and they have the best schools in the country as well. So you can argue the pay thing anyway.factman wrote:$$$ are only a "part" of what makes a good work place. Of course I wasn't trying to change anybody's view, just stating the pay thing.
Toledo's got a lot going for it right now though, whether any BG fans want to believe it or not. Enrollment is up. The new Sullivan Athletic Complex and renovated Savage Arena is very nice. A new indoor practice facility for football and some other sports will be completed for this fall. The Glass Bowl got a new Field Turf surface at the beginning of this year. UT has a Medical University as part of it now. The College of Law has moved up in the rankings a bit. We are willing to pay our head coaches at or near the top of the MAC.
All of these things help to make a job on the UT coaching staff very attractive.
There are things that make BG's job attractive too, and I am sure you will hire a very good coach to replace Brandon.
As for the other poster commenting about the win over Toledo.....well, you finally won at Toledo again. How long did it take? Go back the last 20 years and see what the record is in the UT/BG rivalry. Guess what? It is 10-10. How about the last 40 years? It is 20-20. Now that's a rivalry!
I'd rather go back 2 years
Thats a pretty impressive stat right there.
Beckmans a good choice, I trust our next HC will be better.
And the comment about TPS was a low blow, many factors go into salaries and hopefully the Toledo poster didn't google/wikipedia that nothern virginia salary thing. If so... get a hobby
