Penn State beat Oregon State too much, much worse than Utah did, we know how that worked out for the nitters. Utah had a great season, but USC would take them to the woodshed. And before anybody says anything about "well they beat Alabama", Alabama is a pretty young team and isn't near the same class as USC. Bama isn't even the best team in it's own conference.

USC is just lucky to even have been in the Rose Bowl... if it weren't for Oregon beating Oregon State this wouldn't even matter. Just thought I'd add this to the equation

Well since every BCS team lost a game they all got help from somebody to end up in the bowls they were in. Whether USC played in the Rose Bowl or not doesn't change my mind that they'd crush Utah and probably would beat Florida.

I think USC was unlucky to go to the Rose. They go every year, everyone knows they were the best team in the Pac 10, regardless of how OSU did vs Oregon, I think they would have rather gone to NO or Tempe and actually play someone who would have given them some competition.

sigh - do you know that the Mountain West was as tough if not TOUGHER than the Pac 10 this year?

Yep, 6-1 against it. Don't tell that to a Pac 10 fan, they'll just kick and scream about how they won all their bowls err exhibition games.

Well of the six wins, four of the Pac-10 schools didn't make a bowl and the top three teams of the MWC got four of the six wins, so color me not satified with the top teams in the MWC beating the bottom teams in the Pac-10 making them the better conference. Besides, none of the those teams had to deal with USC. The teams at the top of the Pac-10 were better than the top teams in the MWC, the teams at the bottom of the Pac-10 were as bad as anybody in the country although BYU needed every second to beat an 0-12 Washington team. Did you know the Pac-10 was 5-0 in bowl games? USC is head and shoulders above the rest of the conference, probably why they've won it like six straight years.

Why's that? Because I don't think Utah would beat a team they'd be a double-digit underdog against? Or is it because I'm being objective and not showing extreme bias towards Utah just because they're a fellow mid-major?

best team in the pac 10 or not... if Oregon State beats Oregon they are Pac 10 champ not USC therefore earning the automatic BCS bid... that was all that I was saying.

I disagree. This Utah team would give USC a run for their money...I think Utah would give any of the other top 5 teams a serious game....they are THAT good. Oh, I forgot. They aren't a BCS team so they couldn't possibly be that good.

Say what you will about Bama but they were one win away from playing for the BCS title. They must be half way decent.

Has nothing to do with them being a BCS team or not and I'm not saying Utah isn't good, I'd have voted them third behind USC and Florida, it's just USC is that good. Alabama and USC is no comparison, USC's been bringing in top recruiting classes for six years while Alabama has just recently getting back to getting top classes with Saban there. That's why USC is better(and deeper) at every position, significantly so at almost all of them including ones like quarterback, receivers, running backs, linebackers and secondary. USC doesn't start freshman at any positions like Alabama does because of that string of great recruiting. It's really not even a close, Alabama would get rolled by USC. USC shows up for big games, Alabama waited till they were down 21-0 to show up. By the way, Penn State was one win away from playing for a national title too and the game was over at halftime. USC's simply a differrent beast.

exactly..

you guys always criticize everyone else playing the coulda woulda shoulda what if games.

nobody knows anything because hardly any of these teams played each other. You always criticize the Big Ten for beating the weaker teams of other conferences but it is somehow forgivin when the Mountain West beats up on the bottom feeder, non bowl participating PAC 10 teams?

Simply Incredible.

By the way. Did you know the MAC was 0-5 in bowl games? They will be lucky to keep any bowl allegiances if they keep getting blown out by Tulsa in Mobile. Word on the street is the Motor City bowl wants to dump them.
