I realize there's not an ounce of sense in anything you've written here, but still, I can't help but think... that Colorado game was supposed to be ours, and some were a little miffed when it came off of our schedule.

The game was initially Miami's, but they gave it up to play Kentucky. (By the way, BAD decision by the Redhawks) I wonder how seriously the MAC office was considering giving us the game. We had a game against Wyoming that we were apparently willing to move, and somehow instead of Colorado we ended up with Boise State instead.

Honestly, I think it worked out okay for us, though if Boise isn't coming back in 2011 now, we'll have to work to find another team to play, hopefully at home.

I enjoyed the positive discussion last night regarding the MAC. The commentators were arguing that the MAC was a better top to bottom conference than the mountain west & WAC. Good stuff for the MAC

Exactly which points do you dispute? That BG plays a conference champion (Troy) and 2 Top 25 teams (Boise/Missouri) or that Toledo was lucky to play Michigan and Colorado when they're struggling?

And speaking of senselessness, I don't recall anything about BG ever playing or not playing Colorado and especially not anything about people losing sleep over such an issue.

A conference champion that one notable football expert says is worse than any team in the Big Twelve. And after last week and today she may be right after all. And lucky is good, too, but not too many teams have been lucky with Big Twelve teams coming to their home stadium or scheduling, much less beating UM. I won't go into getting a "home" game with OSU and the huge dollars that follow win or lose. The point is you make your schedule and you play your games.

My main point is that it's silly to talk trash about UT's scheduling of "name teams like Colorado and Michigan at their lowest point in decades" when one of our biggest chest-thumping victories in recent years was beating Minnesota in OT at the beginning of a 1-11 season for the Gophers. As H2O said, they played the games they scheduled and they won them. If it were BG that had beaten Michigan (or dominated a "low" Colorado team), I'm sure your feelings would be different.

BG played hard and lost to the #25 ranked team in the country last night who is no longer in the AP top 25. UT will be playing the #11 team in the country next week after playing two BCS conference teams. Neither situation is anything to be ashamed of.

I mean, yeah, I get that it's Toledo and it's just the thing to do to talk crap, but sometimes the direction people take it on this board is laughable.

The part about the Colorado game was my mistake. Fuzzy memory about the Wyoming/Boise switch.

The main point stands, though.

Most times, schedules are put together years in advance, so it is hard to know how good a team is going to be 5 or 6 years later. Here is a copy of Toledo's future OOC games. Personally, I think this is some really solid scheduling with some great home games:

2010
Aug. 28 at Purdue
Sept. 4 vs Arizona
Sept. 11 at Boise State
Oct. 2 vs Wyoming

2011
Sept. 10 at Ohio State
Sept. 17 vs Boise State
Sept. 24 at Syracuse
TBD

2012
Sept. 1 at Arizona
Sept. 8 at Wyoming
TBD
TBD

2013
Aug. 31 at Florida
Sept. 7 at Missouri
Oct. 19 vs Navy
TBD

2014
Sept. 6 vs Missouri
Sept. 20 at Iowa State
TBD
TBD

2015
Sept. 19 vs Iowa State
Oct. 17 at Navy
TBD
TBD

Are you telling me that Florida isn't making a return trip to the Glass Bowl? Unbelievable!

Toledo does a very good job with OOC scheduling, IMO. In fact, I think I'd generally prefer their OOC schedules to ours. They frequently get BCS opponents in the glass bowl, and very rarely seem to play a 1AA school. That is exactly the sort of sched I'd like to see BG play on a regular basis.

Congrats, UT, on beating Colorado. Good win for you guys and the MAC.

...but you still stink.

After being up 'til 2 in the morning and leaping all over the Glass Bowl I'm sure I stink and I have no voice. But I'm off for my morning ride on a critter that stinks even worse so that'll mask some of the more offensive stuff... ;-)

UT does a good job scheduling OOC, but they play a 1AA almost every year at home...

Then clearly I pay less attention than I thought to their schedule.

For some reason I thought they usually avoided those games.

Flipper, the last time UT played a I-AA was Liberty in 2007, replacing Syracuse who had once again moved the last game of our series to a future date at the last minute and we had to find an opponent quick. We ended up playing 3 of 4 OOC games at home that year, because Liberty replaced what was supposed to be a game at Syracuse. We also played McNeese State in 2006, a game that was setup because of the 12 game schedules and not being able to find a I-A opponent that late in the game.

Before that, yes we did play I-AA schools quite a bit. For future schedules, we don't have plans to play any I-AA schools, but will if we cannot find an opponent. 2008, this year, and 2010 OOC schedules are all set with no I-AA schools.

And I'd like to add that we gave that Liberty team a sound 1 point thumping.
