Losing Freddie Barnes is going to suck hardcore. Losing Chris Wright is going to sting a hell of a lot - he has been an impact player for three years. We might get Pronty back, no telling. But even with those losses, I'm optimistic of the future at receiver. Justus Jones flashed his potential. Kamar Jorden and Sean Joplin both look like excellent playmaker receivers and with a lot of size and speed. Neither Adrian Hodges nor Ray Hutson have hit their potential. So these future playmaker receivers have me excited for next year.

No one wants to talk about the topic...why didn't he get a carry? Thanks Globetrotter. I didn't need people coming on here for this topic to tell me how great Clawson was this year--that's for other posts to talk about. I wanted to know why Bullock didn't get a carry. Period. Why should we have low expectations for next year? We have lost top notch players before and still had high expectations for the following year, correct? Harris, Jacobs, Sharon, Magner, etc...don't give Clawson a pass next year..keep it going coach. You had a healthy Barnes for the entire year and a top senior QB getting him the ball. Any coach would have loved to come in to that scenario. You all seem to forget that we played a lot of the games last year with Barnes not 100% and therefore his stats were 41 catches for 364 yards where when he was healthy in 2007 as a sophomore and put 82 catches for 962. 100% healthy and a senior was a nice recipe for a breakout year for him.

He didn't get a carry because we were throwing the ball for the most part. There was never a situation that arose that warranted a carry by Chris Bullock.

We were discussing it. Like often, you didn't seem to understand or even listen to our points.

Look, nobody here has anything against Bullock. He's been a hard worker on the team for four years. The issue is that we are running an offense that was created for who we have. I do not believe that Clawson wants to be running this offense in the future - what we saw this year was out of necessity and it worked because we had some playmakers and a senior quarterback who would not let the team fail. What we do have is an offensive line that is tooled for pass blocking, not enough good backfield blockers, and some great receiving talent. All of that adds up to running a high octane pass offense. And for that offense, Geter was a perfect fit. A small, quick guy that can catch exceptionally out of the backfield. As for Bullock this year, he was best at running over a tired defense, but he seemed to be ineffective early in the game when the defense still has steam. He was vital when he needed him - nobody will doubt that. But again, with the right personnel (balanced offensive linemen and a true fullback in front of him), he would have been useful all four quarters, not just the final quarter.

The offense next year is probably going to be closer to what Clawson wants - a balanced offense in the West Coast style that thrives on getting its best playmakers into space. And as the offense gets closer to what Clawson wants, a runner like Bullock becomes more effective. Simply, the personnel that Clawson wants includes more balanced offensive linemen, which he has recruited. So it sucks that Bullock had to be a senior this year because I think he would have thrived in the Clawfense. But, it is what it is and this had to be his last year, a transition year.

Look at Bullock's numbers this year under Clawson and the last two under Brandon. They are similar. Not sure why you are upset with Coach Clawson. Bullock did play in the bowl game, the coach is not required to give hime the ball because he is a senior. Clawson was focused on winning the game, not how many touches Chris had.

Obviously Clawson hates black people, or people named Chris. How obvious!

I hate Chris Bullock a little bit just because of the cowboy here.

It's funny how Bullock had 800 yards as a freshman with all of those "pass" blocking linemen that Brandon recruited. We led the league in rushing in 2007 with all of those "pass" blocking linemen and PJ Pope hated to run behind those "pass" blocking linemen that Brandon recruited.

Obviously, losing Barnes hurts. Chris Wright isn't going to be much of a loss though. We're pretty deep at the WR position, and although Wright certainly had boatloads of talent, there were games this season where he couldn't catch a pass if his life depended on it. You can run good routes, be physical, and do all of the little things right but if you can't catch, you're never going to be a good receiver.

Getting Pronty back for next season is especially good news. We need somebody that can stretch the field with Barnes gone, and he fills that need, regardless of who else steps up.
