The latest scoop re Indiana and Brandon....

Post by BayernFan »

Here is the text of a message posted on the Indiana board...

Looks like it's down to 4 finalists for HC. Final interviews are taking place up through this weekend. While I don't know the full list, 2 names on it are Elliot and Taffe.

Greenspan, Fitzpatrick, and I believe Herbert are flying out to KState on his way to the Soccer Final Four and will meet with Elliot. He hasn't been hired as of about 45 minutes ago, so I don't know what to think of the info below.

Taffe was recommended to Greenspan by Steve Addinzo (Sp?). I guess they have worked a summer camp together called the Northeastern Group. This is a real high profile camp that several coaches from across the country work at over the summer. It's kinda like the Nike or ABCD camps for bball. Anyway, Army is one of the big time sponsors for it, and Fitzpatrick was also familiar with Chuck because of this camp.

As for who the other 2 finalist are I don't know, but my source from the Athletic Department said one was a current HC getting ready for a bowl game and the other has been out of fball for a little while.

Sorry I can't provide more, but at least some pieces of the puzzle are coming together.

IT'S ME, BayernFan, again!!

So it looks like Brandon is the HC getting ready for a Bowl Game, and many of us hope that Neuheisel is the Coach that has been out of football for a while.

Stay tuned.

But seriously, if you just want me to make like a hockey player and get the puck out of here, let me know. I've heard worse from my mom!!

We don't run anyone off this board that can come here and participate in civil conversations.

These IU guys should be given credit for being true to their team. BG has had its share of losing thru the years. And I would be excited if my team needed a coach and someone of Coach B's qualities was mentioned.

I feel Brandon will be here at least 2 more years....UNLESS, we run the table next yr (which will be VERY difficult). His name will come up often the next couple years. We have an awesome QB leading the team for the next 2 years and lots of experience coming back. We will field an excellent team in 2005.

I would love a home and home with IU. Bloomington is definitely within driving distance of most of us.

"You could pay me a million dollars," Brandon said. "But if we're getting our butts kicked it isn't any fun."

Says it all to me right there.

BTW, Love the new BGnews.com pages!

Brandon

Brandon is smarter to involve himself in a lower-echelon Big 10 program with an AD with a quick trigger finger. I anticipate he'll be at BG unless a truly *major* opportunity opens up, likely out west where he has connections.

I beleive the MAC coach this post is referencing is Miami's Terry Hoeppner. The mild-mannered coach has been mentioned in numerous articles as a prime candidate.

HI guys, it's me again!!

Just thought I'd drop by and let you know that although Brandon seemed to fall off the radar over last weekend, there was a post on the IU board that Brandon is one of 2 finalists for the IU job. This has come as quite a surprise to many of us, as we thought the 2 finalists were Hoeppner and Elliott. The poster claims that Brandon interviewed in Bloomington today.

Then another poster claims that Elliot has been hired, and that IU players have been given the word and are calling each other about it.

We can not vouch for either poster, so we don't know if they are just messin with us.

Have any of you heard anything???

BTW, the IU board is the Rivals.com one. You can get to it, I think, by going to peegs.com.

Now MiamiHawkTalk.com says that Hoeppner told the team at 11 pm that HE was hired as IU's coach, and that he was going to Bloomington tomorrow for the announcement at noon.

So WTF??

We'll see I guess.

Sorry to bother you. If you want me to f**&^ off, just say so. I've heard worse from my wife!!!

Hoeppner? Wow. I am truly shocked. I thought he was going to be a Miami lifer.

You'll be an egg for a while. But please come back with updates as much as you wish. You are always welcome.

With all the good recruits it looks like Central and Ball State are bringing in and if Miami losses their coach, it looks very appealling to me for us to move back to the East division next year. Guess we would just need to worry about that Solich character that OU hired.

Yeah, but if he keeps up his trend of winning 1 or 2 games less than the guy he replaced, I think we'll do just fine...

Good point. and I am sure that will get him fired again.
