Yeah...I would have liked to see Durkin or Stud get hired because they're "BG guys"....but Kingston did a thorough search and there's no denying the fact that Babers has a great pedigree.

No. At most he will meet the team, but he should let the current staff do their thing and then he takes over the next day. Would lead to conflict otherwise.

The key to this site (which I do enjoy) is not to spend too much time reading all the comments on here. Many people have opinions that come across as fact. I personally don't know this coach but I do know someone deep within the program that has a very high regard for him. This team was not in a great position 3 years ago. He took the talent that was there (a good QB) which wasn't much and won two championship. This team could have beaten most MAC teams this year.

I think this is an excellent hire!

Coach Babers needs to watch a lot of tape btwn now and the new year

1. Identify what you have on roster

2. Identify what you have committed (are there some kids who now don't fit, sorry kids, budget or no budget this is big boy football)

3. Identify prospects that you can target and sign in the next five weeks (NLOI Day isn't far away)

Eastern's coach didn't bring any of his assistants with him, Martin is building a staff at Miami (currently he has 3-4 guys, if Coach Babers can bring some and possibly keep some, then recruiting could be really fun down the stretch)

Well if he is tweeting that he should be given permission to move on immediately!

I haven't watched any of eiu yet this year but I am pretty sure that garappolo is going to be drafted this year. Always impressive to get a guy into the draft from 1aa.

I'm a hardcore offense guy so I very much look forward to the return of creative offense. I loved clawson for his program building but I've complained about his offensive gameplans/play calling for years, hopefully barbers puts that to rest.

We obviously don't want to get back to the days of putting our top 50 athletes on offense and leaving defense to fend for itself but I definitely prefer putting my emphasis on offense.

I'm excited to see what he does here.

He didn't tweet it, that I've seen. It came from a player wishing him well.

And there are at least two coaches that will lead the team into Detroit that are already confirmed to be headed to Wake. Why would Coach Scheier be any different? His enthusiasm for BG has been outstanding since he got the interim tag, including a tweet congratulating our new prehistoric overlord.

Anytime there is change, there is uncertainty. I must say though, looks like a good choice. The team has the players in place to win immediately, and this coach has a track record of posting immediate results.

Let's hope that trend continues.... and if it does, he isn't gone after a year.

Go Falcons!
