Why spend money on anything if the stadium is only used a few times a year? Why do we even have a stadium?
If you want to increase attendance you have to offer a better in game experience. We're Americans...we're fat. We're fat because we eat a lot of food. Better food means more Americans in the stands

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Turn the Northeast parking grass area into a carnival atmosphere. Bring in a Ferris Wheel, Merry go round and some games to win Falcon Merchandise. Put an Italian Sausage, Corn Dogs, Elephant Ear and french fry stand in parking lot. Then put some food carts around the stadium. Bring in real Popcorn vendors, not stale Popcorn. Bring in Myles, Mr. Spots and Chipotle. That would cover about everything. Maybe Frickers for wings and beer. I heard rumors last week that Roosters were going st set up a mobile food stand for Wings n Curly Fries at OSU this year.

I prefer chair seats. If we upgrade concessions then WIDER seats. Seems to me the best money is put on water, sewer and electric hook-ups for portable food stands and great restrooms for me. Your post made me laugh and really question what is wrong with our facility.. I like it. Bigger video, better restrooms, more chairs and some nice portable concessions. Great new stadiums like Akron only attract so many people. $61 million only buys so many fans and breaks the university.Flipper wrote:Why spend money on anything if the stadium is only used a few times a year? Correct me if I'm wrong but Michigan had Mr. Spots when I when I attended the BG game there. Not sure about having a full out fair but we always enjoyed the bands when they attempted it years ago along with the Falcon Club tent on the East side. Even went back out at halftime to see what was left - usually a cup or two for several of us.gmartin wrote:Turn the Northeast parking grass area into a carnival atmosphere. This topic about food got me thinking about what would be an interesting idea to do with our south end zone (how it seems so unfinished). I think it would be cool to somehow tie in a designed plaza area with some cool designed concessions. You could landscape the area and make it a place people would go to congregate and also watch the game, kind of similar to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Pirate Cove area. That is the area where they have that pirate ship, which we obviously would not, but the picture below shows the concessions area as what I'm trying to describe.
It would also allow us to do some sort of a plaza or walkway that would allow access to the east and west grandstands. Currently the way things are set up right now with the tents, you essentially have to walk on grass and step over electric cords, and if it's raining that area becomes muddy. There's essentially no flow from the east and west grandstands as you cannot go around the north side because of the Sebo Center and the south side is cluttered and unfinished.

33...Yes!! I have always thought that would be an ideal use for that space. The Tigers did something like that in Detroit during the last years of Tiger Stadium. They turned the player's parking lot into a plaza with a number of food options to overcome the antiquated facilities in the old building.
Falconturf...
you sorta raise an interesting question...do we renovate the Doyt to maximize comfort even if it costs a couple of thousand off of capacity. So we don't seat 23,000...maybe we only seat 20,000 but they're awesome seats. I could live with that

Looks awesome, but I doubt we'd spend the money to do something like that.
I think the beer garden is a great idea. I wonder if they'll just pull up beer trucks and throw up a few tables?
I really like what Indiana does with the mini-football field for kids to play on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6RHLJsPVHo

Georgia Southern recently added something like that too:thewebboy wrote:I really like what Indiana does with the mini-football field for kids to play on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6RHLJsPVHo

I don't know whether to be stunned at the creativity of others or upset at the complete lack of imagination of our people when it comes to such things.
