I definitely agree with him being placed in a tough situation at UT. With the record Tennessee had in 08 someone was going to get canned, it just happened to be the entire staff.

I think BG benefited from Clawson's experience at UT. In his first year at BG, he recognized he had a good offense full of seniors so he let it stay pretty much as is and we were reasonably successful that year. During that year we were 'prepared' for the second year as the restart year. And sure enough, the second year was a tough one but he improved each year culminating in a 10 win season a few years later.
