I agree, we probably do currently have a better program than Colorado, at least now, and lately we've certainly have had more recent success, no question about it. But BGSU and Bowling Green can't compete with Colorado and Boulder. I go out there every 2-3 years. Better town, better campus, better facility and better conference. Yeah, anyone could say that's just my opinion, but it's really not. Sucks, but true. The second I heard he was visiting Colorado I knew that was the end of that. But I can't blame him one bit, I would have done the same thing in his shoes. Best of luck to him.Falconfreak90 wrote:Hope he likes winning 4 games a year. Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
We would have had him for only one year anyway. For longevity sake, it would be best to have one of our QBs start that will give us stability in that position not just one and done. It can work in other positions, eilar example, but the QB has to be there. It does no good if he knows the system and teach it to a backup if the backup gets no experience using it.

Does James knapke have 2 years left?
Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
Knapke has just one year left. He redshirted in 2012. I just hope we see a more dynamic Knapke in 2016. Babers said last year that he was the most improved player on the team. We just saw very little of him to see what he meant. Knapke was sort of thrown to the wolves in 2014 when Johnson went down, but you would hope that experience will now pay dividends in 2016 since Johnson didn't seek a medical redshirt and likely wouldn't have gotten it anyway. To me it is Knapke's job to lose unless James Morgan is actually better than him. In the beginning of the year in 2014 with Knapke I actually felt like we didn't miss much of a beat with him in there. He had a good outing vs VMI, was fantastic vs Indiana and UMass, and was good enough in the comeback to beat Buffalo and to beat Ohio on the road. But then sometime around midseason, seemed like the WMU game, it seemed like Knapke was drifting toward being more like Matt Schilz than he was Matt Johnson. Knapke sort of went into a funk and looked more hesitant and unsure than he did in the first half of the year. He also looked overwhelmed in the MACC. That said, he did come up big and helped BG finally win a bowl game, it's first in a decade. That's something even Johnson couldn't do as we were 0-2 with Johnson as a starting QB in a bowl. Granted, the opponents were tougher and both times it was coming off a coaching change. But still. I just hope that with all the experience Knapke gathered in 2014 and the improvement he made in 2015 that we see his best yet in 2016. Otherwise, we could see a short leash on him like we did in 2013 when Johnson wrestled away the job from Schilz and never looked back.Tech2000 wrote:Does James knapke have 2 years left?

While this is true, Colorado has some excellent graduate programs which may have influenced his decision.Falconfreak90 wrote:Hope he likes winning 4 games a year. We have a much better program than Colorado.

We need another QB...even if Cunningham signs. Knapke has experience....Morgan is a RS FR who hasn't played a down and Cunningham would be a true FR. Need to get a JUCO ham and egger who can handle sitting if Knapke wins the job and stays healthy

Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
Went to the season ticket holder scrimmage and noticed that James was not hesitant on running the ball when needed and ran with authority; one thing he did not do in the past. After the macc babers discussed that last year, mid season, James was battling rib issues. So, if in fact true would explain a lot and the rest for bowl game allowed him to heal.

Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
Now that you mention it, I do remember hearing something about him playing through an injury, which could have coincided with when he seemed to have tailed off. I was at the spring game, but to be honest, I was so focused on seeing Matt Johnson back out there that failed to remember much of what Knapke did. We had also had just learned that Clayton Nicholas had left BG after Matt Johnson beat him out and Nick Johnson had just been suspended/dismissed so I didn't really pay attention to Knapke out there. Looking back at that spring game though, two things stood out to me most. One, Donovan Wilson ran hard and looked good that day. He was looking to run through some guys. And two, Tyler Tate looked dreadful! He couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with his kicks that day. I'm talking extra points and short FG's. Babers attributed it to it being Tate's first time kicking outdoors that spring but as we saw in the regular season, with the exception of the Tennessee game, that spring game was a telling sign of things to come.Tech2000 wrote:Went to the season ticket holder scrimmage and noticed that James was not hesitant on running the ball when needed and ran with authority; one thing he did not do in the past. What happened to Donovan? Was he injured? Didn't see him much during year. Injury reports had him always possible but that's it. Looking forward to seeing that freshman, his name escape s me, that ran a 96 yd TD vs ball state
Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
Matt Domer. And yes, me too.Tech2000 wrote:What happened to Donovan? Was he injured? Didn't see him much during year. Injury reports had him always possible but that's it. Looking forward to seeing that freshman, his name escape s me, that ran a 96 yd TD vs ball state
We seem to have a pretty good line of succession going with our RBs. Losing Travis Greene will hurt, but Coppet has shown what he can do, Domer should get more carries and experience and hopefully Wilson is back for 2 more years as a solid short yardage guy, plus Ronnie Moore running as needed from the WR spot.

Donovan Wilson was injured at the end of the year. Not sure with what though. And yes, Matt Domer is the guy you're asking about. He was pretty highly rated coming out of high school and was originally headed to Illinois. He only got scrap carries this year but did bust that big one vs Ball State. He should be in the mix a lot more with Greene leaving. I'm looking forward to seeing what Charles Lamar can do too.Tech2000 wrote:What happened to Donovan? Was he injured? Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
There is a guy who would be a graduate transfer available who was recruited by BG out of high school. Went 17-5 as a starter for an SEC school but comes with a bit of baggage.Flipper wrote:We need another QB...even if Cunningham signs. Re: Is Davis Webb still coming to BG?
Speaking of QB's, BG has offered a Texas kid for 2017 out of Schertz, TX.
As far as next year, I'm not too concerned about the QB position. I suspect that Knapke and Morgan will battle in camp for the starting position, admittedly I hope to see Morgan get the job as I think he has a higher ceiling.
