We've got a football program that is a 30 point underdog to Toledo. It's a joke. The amount of money we're losing right now just on poor football attendance is comical. Hopefully basketball and hockey can have good years and draw some fans otherwise it's going to be another long year for BG Athletics.
We are not an elite program, like that team in Columbus. We will go through cycles, if you're really good you will lose coaches and that will impact recruiting. Look at CMU, who like us went through 3 coaches in 4 years. No we need a coach like Clawson again, who can come in, recruit, and rebuild us into a winner. Is Jinks the man for this? I don't have the answer, but we were set up for a down year, and it may be another year or two before we are sniffing the top of the MAC.

Or you can have the other side of the coin, like Toledo, and be good, but nothing special. You have a long period of good years, but nothing of note to show for it. Yes they have beat us, but at the end of the day, they're not champions of the MAC. This is the goal of every MAC team, and anything extra is a gift.

Finally, most the money BG makes on football, comes from the money grab games we play and sponsorships. If we have a stretch of poor play our sponsorship deals will weaken, but I doubt that we pull in serious money from ticket sales. Relax and welcome to MAC football. We were in the same spot 6 years ago, and it was pretty good right after that.

Let's not kid ourselves here though. The main reason Toledo does not have a football title in over a decade is because they play in the MAC West. If they were in the East, they would have found a way to win at least 1 of the last 3 MAC titles. No, I'm not making excuses, I'm just stating facts. And they've had coaching turnover nearly at our level as well. The reason why it has not caused as much of an impact on them was because they stayed in house with the last two hires so they didn't have to change their whole offensive system.

And oh...being able to recruit every athlete with a pulse due to their admission swinging gate didn't hurt either. ;)

RWT...we won MAC titles doing something UT couldn't...beat NIU. In fact..we beat two teams last year from the west they lost to. They don't win because they choke...and they're never as good as their fans think they are

I'll admit the West is better than the East overall and has been for a while. It's no different in men's hoops. ut should try playing the MAC East. Just the way it is...

Flip makes a good point. As much as ut fans like to rub our noses with the 6 game streak (and rightfully so), they have their own poison in NIU.

This will turn in our favor one day...see osu/mich. UM owned osu from 1988-2000 and now osu owns UM. It will happen...

Someone mentioned that CBS Sports Network, CBSSN, picked this game up. We'll my Directv, Ch 221, now lists WMU @ Akron. I called my parents and both HD and Standard CBSSN has WMU @ Akron. Looks like it's only on ESPN3.

This appears to confirm that.

Probably a good thing.

And according to UT website as of 3pm only 150 tickets remain. 74 degrees at kickoff, homecoming, rivalry game. Will be a sell out.

Heres how to watch just abut any game online . Google the term CFB streams reddit around noon or so. Pick the game you want and watch it. Pretty much works for any sport (eg...mlb streams for baseball)

Yep, looks like CBSSN flipped their broadcast rights this week. WMU/Akron was originally a noon start but was moved to 3:30 once they picked up the game. BG will be on ESPN3 and whatever channel the ASN is shown on.

Game is being televised locally in Columbus DIRECTV CH 7 or with an antenna 6-2.

I recommend checking your secondary HDTV over the air stations. Sometimes they broadcast games without listing them.

The past 6 years BG had the better team5 of those years however the team was poorly prepared, made no halftime adjustments and costly turnovers.

This year BG is one of the worst teams in college football. Our coaching staff to me is a joke. So this would be the year we pull off the upset, right.

BG 35
Toledo 31

OK, back to reality. Toledo 70 BG 21

I could see either happening. Totally different feel going into this game. No overconfidence or pressure for once. Toledo has already chalked it up as a win. It's not like they are much more talented, they just have much better coaching right now. That said I have next to zero faith in this team showing up prepared for 4 quarters.

Good opening start. 3 and out.

Was 3rd and 7 and Miller ran a 6 yard route.
