We are not an elite program, like that team in Columbus. We will go through cycles, if you're really good you will lose coaches and that will impact recruiting. Look at CMU, who like us went through 3 coaches in 4 years. No we need a coach like Clawson again, who can come in, recruit, and rebuild us into a winner. Is Jinks the man for this? I don't have the answer, but we were set up for a down year, and it may be another year or two before we are sniffing the top of the MAC.apollo wrote:Moosebruger has a lot of work to do...The performance of our athletic programs is embarrassing. If you're going to cut scholarships and underfund certain sports to make sure your revenue sports have good budgets, then your revenue sports had better win. We've got a football program that is a 30 point underdog to Toledo. It's a joke. The amount of money we're losing right now just on poor football attendance is comical. Hopefully basketball and hockey can have good years and draw some fans otherwise it's going to be another long year for BG Athletics.
Or you can have the other side of the coin, like Toledo, and be good, but nothing special. You have a long period of good years, but nothing of note to show for it. Yes they have beat us, but at the end of the day, they're not champions of the MAC. This is the goal of every MAC team, and anything extra is a gift.
Finally, most the money BG makes on football, comes from the money grab games we play and sponsorships. If we have a stretch of poor play our sponsorship deals will weaken, but I doubt that we pull in serious money from ticket sales. Relax and welcome to MAC football. We were in the same spot 6 years ago, and it was pretty good right after that.
