You had me at "We beat Toledo."mbenecke wrote:We beat Toledo, we matched last season's win total even though it's a rebuilding year. I'd have to call this a successful season given the circumstances. We're 3-6 with 3 to play. If someone had told you that after the Kent State game, would you have believed them?

Re: Akron
Ugly football game, glad BG won. Loeffler said after the game that all options are still on the table with Clair.
BG is bad, Akron is way worse. Tom Arth has his work cut out for him there. Might be some high school teams that could beat them.
One positive from this game is that BG has talented freshmen corners. Bodes well for the future.

There is no HS team beating Akron. Check yourself.jpfalcon09 wrote:Ugly football game, glad BG won. Loeffler said after the game that all options are still on the table with Clair.

Good correction....that’s quality insight right there.roguewarrior wrote:There is no HS team beating Akron. Check yourself.jpfalcon09 wrote:Ugly football game, glad BG won. Loeffler said after the game that all options are still on the table with Clair.

Re: Akron
Sure is. Silly statements need correction. 99% of HS players are sitting at home after their senior year, not on a D1 football team, albeit a bad one in Akron.TommyG wrote:Good correction....that’s quality insight right there.roguewarrior wrote:There is no HS team beating Akron. Jeff Sagarin ranks Akron 202th out of 256 Division I teams. That's really bad -- about as good as an average Patriot League school.
It would be interesting to see how many MAC schools have been worse. Not many, I imagine.

No college team is going to beat an NFL...even a bad one. The NFL team is comprised of guys who were really good in college. Not everyone on even the best collegiate roster his good enough to play in the NFL.
The gap between a college team that includes 20-23 year olds vs a bunch of 16-18 year olds #would be even greater

I don't disagree. It's worth remembering that this happened, though.Flipper wrote:No college team is going to beat an NFL...even a bad one. The NFL team is comprised of guys who were really good in college. Not everyone on even the best collegiate roster his good enough to play in the NFL.

Re: Akron
Akron's offensive line was really bad. It is not like the 2018 line was all seniors, so this line was not all first time starters. The BG defense is not at all world class and yet we shut down the run game and came up with sacks and pressure all day.
I know it is year one for Arth. If I'm an Akron fan, I'm seriously worried. I can't come up with a reason why the line play, and the offense with it, has to be this bad. Even in our worst seasons, we could score on conference teams.
