Has the recommendation of the search firm ever been disclosed?

For Jinks replacement? Yes but Blade now is a pay site and I can't read it.

As I recall the search firm identified potential candidates and made comments about each. Loeffler was among the candidates. As was the current Penn State OC, the Notre Dame STs coach, the former Mount Union coach, and I don't remember who all. But I don't remember any FCS coaches.

I remember floating some names here. In the end I think the top few I liked included the former Michigan State DC who is now DC for the #2 ranked Cincinnati Bearcats and the Elon head coach who now is the HC at #5 FCS ranked JMU.

Loeffler was nowhere found in FOIA request by Blade regarding the search firms candidates. Will Healy, Jim McElwain, Mount Union coach, Yurkich, and names mentioned above. But, Kingston Jr. is from Boston , and a Tom Brady fan boy. Add in Urban Meyer endorsement (aka the kiss of death for hiring a head coach) and 5-20 is what you get. I'd love a transcript of the interview. Did it go... who will be your defensive coordinator if hired? Carl Pelini. Or will you keep Carl Pelini as your defensive coordinator if you get the job? Yes.

Here is the type of coverage BGSU just loves....

Stellar? 6 touchdowns 7 interceptions. Lowering the standard every single day.

Omar Jacobs 41-4
Matt Johnson 46-8

For all who cannot read the infamous article.
- it doesn't say Loeffler wasn't recommended by the search firm. Implied it but didn't outright say it.
- the rep from the search firm congratulated Moose on the decision
- the search firm provided a list of "clients" who would be interested in the job. In other words if a potential candidate was not represented by this one specific search firm, that candidate would not be recommended or even mentioned by the search firm. Speaking with the search firm's candidates and only those candidates makes for a small net

Search firm compiles a list of coaches interested in the opening. The search firm does due diligence. Coaches are not represented by the search firm so not sure what you're trying to say there.

This line from the oft referenced article sticks out to me ...

The next day, he (Turnkey search rep) provided by email a list of clients whom he said would be interested in the vacant BGSU job, and organized the candidates between those with and without head coaching experience.

Clients of turnkey search were the only ones turnkey was highlighting? That's how I read it. Turnkey is a talent management company. Same one that represented Kingston when he went on a podcast bragging about the process that led to hiring Jinks.

I'm not here to comment on the merits of Loeffler but rather what Turnkey really did or did not do during the search.

Wow. What a load of manure that article is. Loefflers BS to the media is shocking, when you know some of what really goes on in the bldg/said in film/etc… ugh

Through seven games McDonald is No. 2 in the MAC in passing yards (1,864) and passing yards per game (233). He is No. 1 in completions per game (21.88). He is No. 3 in total offense (235.6).

True. All true.

Also true: basically no run game. Also true: not enough drives ending with points. Effectively McDonald's numbers are the total offense and that's not enough to keep up. If the situation is that McDonald needs to be the whole offense then he has to be passing for 400+ and 5 TDs. And this isn't Texas Tech. We're not winning games until the run game is 40% or more of the offense.

Stats can deceive when context is removed!

This game is Loeffler’s last shot to right the ship. He put it out there he wasn’t going to let this backslide (it already has, but fine). If they get tuned up again he’s gonna lose just about any supporter he still has.

You really want to turn around Mens athletics, you need a good AD. BG has blown it there last 3 hires. Christopher wa an asshat who used every resource to hide his incompetence. He was going to be fired and he got lucky and got the Xavier job.
Kingston couldn’t adjust from a P5 budget to a MAC budget, with a hockey program.
Moosbrugger isn’t capable and it shows. Jinks wasn’t his fault but this is and he should be fired now. They need a leader who creates winning culture.

Last hockey conference title was 1988. Men’s basketsball hasn’t done anything since Dakich other than a back door regular season title. Soccer has been ok…if you think Moosbrugger is doing a good job then I can’t do much for you.

NW Ohio media has always taken a soft approach to covering local sports. The exception being Briggs at the Blade
