For the hell of it...I did a search on here for "fire Scot Loeffler"... first mention appears to be in 2021.
My doubts were amplified after reading this in 2019. https://www.toledoblade.com/sports/bgsu ... 0190111118

The emails showing how involved Hughes was gave me very little confidence this was going anywhere.

In an alternate universe, hiring Marcus Freeman would have very, very interesting.

I would've liked to promote Mike Elko in 2013...

If the job here opens up...I wonder if Vince Kehres would be a candidate. He would have been an interesting choice in 2019

To be fair, we didn't win the FCS game last year. We gave up 59 points and lost in 7OT. Lol

I still cannot believe we lost that game and somehow figured out a way to get to a bowl game. That's nuts to me.
Oddly enough the only blowout win of SL's tenure was his first game against Morgan State, 46-3. Murray State was 27-10 in 2021, and we know what happened last year vs. EKU. No recent history suggests things will be easy on Saturday, and it's sad. I'm sure Toledo fans aren't worried about losing to Texas Southern.
That Morgan State game was the last game I went to at the Doyt...probably won't be back until there's a change. I even turned down free tickets to the Michigan game. Have no interest in driving to AA...finding parking and dealing with the crowds to watch JJ McCarthy light us up
My wife is a huge Michigan fan, so we bought tickets through BGSU to sit in the BG section and have her wear the Maize and Blue. I told her that these are the types of games that BG either shocks the world or gets destroyed. No Harbaugh on the sidelines, so who really knows what could happen. If nothing else, it's a fun date night for the two of us without the kid.

Seeing a game at the Big House is a great experience...

John Navarre lighting us up with some sweet catches by David Terrell is my one and only game in teh big house. I found it to be one of the more miserable football experiences of my life, and that had little to do with the end result (which went about as I expected). It was hot, sticky, stinky, and packed like sardines in a tin can. I left there thinking the big house was physically about the same size as the Doyt yet seated 4x as many people.

Only blowing out 1 team in 4 plus years is crazy and pretty telling.

We were at that EKU game last year and it was awful. It was a 4:00PM kick (with some tailgating of course beforehand) that did not end until 8:29. That was the game that made me realize I not only have a deep hatred for Loeffler and BG football, but all of college football needed to do something. Everybody in the stands around us was basically just cheering for whatever result ended the game and put us out of our misery quicker. The "new" college OT rules are painful and need to die.

My wife and kid were begging to leave before the game was over, but like some sort of masochist I had to see the ending. Unless he begs me to attend another game, I can't see myself ever attending another game with this coaching staff. It is not enjoyable football; with or without 7OTs making it miserable.

We were at the game. Left in the 3rd quarter when we were down 31-17, drove home... the game was still going. Watched all 7 overtimes on TV. Brutal loss. Such a long, gross way for things to happen.

And then of course, I was back in town the following week for the Marshall game because I can't quit on this program. And that win made it worth it!

For this particular game, I might be drinking some kool-ade. I was actually pretty impressed last week; well maybe pleasantly surprised more than impressed. It's a glass is half full approach, but I continue to say, "How the eff did we keep the game competitive throwing 5 ints?"

It may have been a fluke. I wasn't overly impressed by LIberty's QB and that certainly helped (along with the scoop 'n' score), but either way I thought we held it together and competed. I don't think either of our QBs are ready to light up scoreboards, but I don't think they turn it over 5x again either. I do think this team is ready to win a game against an FCS opponent without making it a nailbiter. If I'm wrong this week, I'll probably never predict another victory for a SL team, but for now, I think we win it and win it easily. The line I saw had BGSU -7.5, and I think we win and cover that. Not the laugher we'd expect an FCS game should be, but I'll say we win by 10-14 pts and aren't anxiously fearing every 4th quarter possession.

Of course I won't get to see any of the game, so if I'm wrong ya'll can let me know how dumb I am.

We went last year to UM vs. Nebraska (I think). It was cold, I think it was raining and switching to snow, and I was freezing. It wasn't a fun experience simply due to the weather. A few years before that, we went in the summer to watch a Premier League soccer match, Liverpool vs. Manchester United. That was an awesome experience. Other than that, I've been to the Big House two other times for the 5K race they hold in April (don't worry, I wasn't running, it was my wife). All in all, I'm looking forward to a football game that isn't in 32 degree rainy weather. Extended forecast is calling for 72 degrees. I just want to see us scores some touchdowns. I'd love to have a repeat of Appalachian State.

Pabst has achieved a blue ribbon and is now atop the depth chart at RG.
