2025 Preseason
Re: 2025 Preseason
I've heard people are pretty excited about Amachree, as well. I think our RB room is going to be just fine.

Re: 2025 Preseason
Glad to hear it, I was just surprised we didn't have some random freshman with like 2000 yards rushing in HS or Juco
Re: 2025 Preseason
The many unknowns about this years team is scary but also exciting to see who might emerge. This running back discussion and not knowing who is going to get the carries reminds me of going into 2013. We figured to have Anthon Samuel for 2 more years but he left unexpectedly after 2012, along with John Pettigrew graduating and there was no one in the 2013 camp with any real experience and RB was a huge concern.
The position was wide open and they decided to throw some bodies in there to see if anything popped. One of them was a skinny little sophomore WR who barely saw the field as a freshman. They probably figured he wasn't making much of a splash at WR so they'd toss him over to RB to add a little depth there. Travis Green shocked everyone by winning the job, setting the single season rushing record that year (while winning the conference championship) and then going on to be the all time leading rusher in school history. That dude was one hell of a player, tough as anyone I've ever seen and one of my favorites to ever come through the program.
I doubt very much there's another Travis Greene ready to explode out of the RB room right now........but we can always hope

Re: 2025 Preseason
That is still such a crazy story and outcome that has to be what you still love about college sports. Greene was a WR in HS and had 600ish yds as a senior. Not horrible, but not exactly eyepopping either. He then had a Redshit year here before we had to move him to RB to fill a need only to have him blow up.Beaker wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 1:58 pm The many unknowns about this years team is scary but also exciting to see who might emerge. Re: 2025 Preseason
And become BG's all time career rushing leader. How many times did we see him drag 2, 3 or more tacklers on runs? He was amazingly strong for his size. One of my all time fave Falcons.hammb wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 2:07 pmThat is still such a crazy story and outcome that has to be what you still love about college sports. Re: 2025 Preseason
A buddy of mine went to Eddie's speaking event in Findlay on Wednesday. Apparently practice that day was rather intense. He's been harping on the guys about keeping the locker room clean this summer and they failed to do that Tuesday. He opened Wednesday's session with up/downs and several players bowed out early, kind of drew his ire. Things were rather physical as well.
Reminds me a bit of Urban's first year, obviously not to that extreme, but it's good to see the culture bar being set.

Re: 2025 Preseason
I like hearing this. If players are allowed to disregard direction from the coaches and slack off on things off the field things or that may seem insignificant, it'll eventually leak into slacking off on the practice field and it'll show on game day. EG setting a tone of discipline and not letting things slide is very encouraging to hear. Like you said, now is where the culture of the program gets set.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 7:23 pm A buddy of mine went to Eddie's speaking event in Findlay on Wednesday. If we wanted to keep going 7-6, we’d keep doing the same thing.
Raising the bar, setting the standard higher, starts with the little stuff. I love it. Guys will learn to make it part of their routine, and we’ll be sharper for it.

Re: 2025 Preseason
College football panel formally announced this morning for August 28th at 1:30 inside BTSU. Panelists include Urban, John Cooper, Jim Tressel, and Richard Clark who is the Executive Director of the CFP. Event is only open to Falcon Club members and corporate sponsors, limited to 300 individuals but a cool event nonetheless.

Sounds like a great event for Ohio State and its fans.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 11:06 am College football panel formally announced this morning for August 28th at 1:30 inside BTSU. Yeah, I don't know whether to applaud DVDM for leaning into the OSU thing or to be aggravated. Other than Urban Meyer, and only for his BG stuff, I couldn't possibly care less to hear any of those listed people talk. AFAIC Tressel is about the lowest form of human being on the planet, or very near it. The others have zero relevance to BG at all. I suppose I'd be interested in hearing how Tressel feels about the refs stealing BG's chance at the upset in 2003, but I put about as much stock in the words coming out of his mouth as I do the words coming from his current boss's mouth.guest44 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 12:01 pmSounds like a great event for Ohio State and its fans.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 11:06 am College football panel formally announced this morning for August 28th at 1:30 inside BTSU. But I also understand that 99% of BGSU "fans" care more about OSU than anything going on in BG, and the path to get money into the program is probably kowtowing to donors who want BG to somehow be associated with OSU. Disgusting, but if it makes the program money I guess, OK?
Re: 2025 Preseason
The John Cooper addition to the panel made me laugh. Who cares about John Cooper at this point? They must be hoping he donates some money.hammb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 12:45 pmYeah, I don't know whether to applaud DVDM for leaning into the OSU thing or to be aggravated. Re: 2025 Preseason
Coop was Eddie’s coach, I get it.
It’s objectively good for the program to have college football legends (and the buzz that comes with it) around it. At minimum, it helps recruiting.
We play games on weeknights in empty stadiums for exposure, so I don’t mind this kind of thing at all.

Re: 2025 Preseason
Kinda where I am. I also think the audience will probably skew older so Cooper and Tressel make sense in that regard. It is what it is. Regardless I think it's a net positive for the university to host these kind of events, even if you're bending the knee to those from Columbus.hammb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 12:45 pmYeah, I don't know whether to applaud DVDM for leaning into the OSU thing or to be aggravated. Re: 2025 Preseason
I care about BGSU and BGSU only. Don't give a rat's ass about aOSU or any other school.
" I suppose I'd be interested in hearing how Tressel feels about the refs stealing BG's chance at the upset in 2003".
Well said, Hammb. That still burns the sh*t outta me 22 years later. That was our ball on the 45 yard line of aOSU, with 1:45 left and down 24-17. Will Teague recovered that fumble, no question. Even the old man sitting next to me, an aOSU fan, said "Son, I know BG recovered that fumble but you aren't going to get that call here". No sh*t.
