The End Zone noise at Central Michigan was MUCH louder than at the glASS Bowel. (at least for the 2.5 quarters their rowdy, drunken students were there) And talk about right on top of the action.OptionQB wrote:The most disturbing thing I've found in this thread and by looking at the pictures is that someone actually blamed our loss at Toledo on the amount of endzone noise that our guys had to deal with??? Sorry OptionQB...but that was not single coverage. It appears that way when the "safeties" aren't over top covering where they are supposed to be. It certainly makes a corner look bad. Know the coverage first, then criticize last. Even the commentators were not that clueless. Even they picked up on the fact that absolutely no corner can cover under those conditions.I'm sorry I guess I don't recall the number of adjustments that our coaching staff made after halftime . . . oh that's right it was ZERO . . . and how many times did Jelani and Mayberry get burnt in single coverage . . . TOO MANY TO COUNT!

And here all of this time, I thought it was because TU didn't water down the astroturf before we played.OptionQB wrote:I'm sorry I guess I don't recall the number of adjustments that our coaching staff made after halftime . . . oh that's right it was ZERO . . . and how many times did Jelani and Mayberry get burnt in single coverage . . . Those are the reasons we lost against Toledo.

This may be off-topic, but the Music Building looks like a hospital.Rightupinthere wrote: The color scheme of the MMC was the primary colors of green, orange, blue, yellow. It was fun, creative, and intense. Now, the MMC is just a building with tile and white walls.![]()
Neon orange railings on the stairs, colorful walls (i was told that the colors were like that so that artwork wouldn't be necessary on the walls)
Who was the dean of the CMA 6-8 years ago? all the sterile crud happened then. I like Dean Kennel, FWIW.
and Freak - I would like to echo your thanks to the Sebo Family. I bet they are really excited about seeing this awesome building with their name on it. I can only imagine what that is like.

Schad - have you ever been on field turf? I normally hate artificial surfaces, but FieldTurf is just like grass. I have been researching it for forwardmarch.org, and that stuff is great. My marching band marched on it a couple of times; it is nothing like astroturf from the past. *Schadenfreude wrote:I'm thinking the artist didn't bother to get the grass right.bgsufan1972 wrote:Was just wondering if we were going to put in Field Turf when the new SAC is built or any other renovations will be done to the Doyt. Looking at the sketches it looks like field turf is going to be added as well as a new seating section on the NE side of the stadium (connecting the East stands to the SAC)
If they put Field Turf in... that would be very ungood.
I would not mind FieldTurf at all.
In fact - it even needs to be watered to rinse impurities from the rubber 'dirt' incorporated into the surface, so Toledo can still be stymied by a wet field!

That is a rowdy bunch up there. Nothing like the Freaklings talking smack to the CMU student body.Dayons_Den wrote:The End Zone noise at Central Michigan was MUCH louder than at the glASS Bowel. The disturbing thing I find is that someone actually got disturbed. What, no dog to kick this morning?
No tongue in cheek comments allowed here. But actually a good case can be made that the crowd really got into it and we couldn’t score at that endzone. Add-in a few mis-start penalties, odd time-outs, definitely an unfocused defense, and you could have a team affected by the crowd. Fans are close to the field and it was incredibly loud. Trust me, I didn’t sit in the relegated orange zone in the corner of the stadium.
I was upset about the lack of focus from the coaching also, but we weren’t in the locker room.

Yes, I have. Field Turf is a lot like grass.Falcon30 wrote: Schad - have you ever been on field turf?
Thing is, we are blessed to have the real thing, and it has served us well for almost 40 years.
I like that, in some seasons, the field is a mess in November. Mud, rain and snow are part of football.

I have never set foot on field turf, but I have watched plenty of games played on it to know that it doesn't play like real grass. It may look & feel more like real grass, but it still doesn't play like real grass.
I was not near the Toledo student section but I did not think they were all that loud. I really did not think they affected the second half that much. Plus most of that third quarter was played away from the student section.Cork wrote:OptionQB wrote:The most disturbing thing I've found in this thread and by looking at the pictures is that someone actually blamed our loss at Toledo on the amount of endzone noise that our guys had to deal with??? The students weren't all that loud (in fact for a while it was damned quiet!), but that frickin' obnoxious bell tolling everytime we had a third down was irritating as hell
that whole frickin college is obnoxious !!

I was right beside that section and trust me...the volume was high and the bell was definitely irritating to say the least. This could have affected our scoring because during the 3rd quarter that was the end zone for our scoring and we didn't fair well at all. The defense was on that end in the 4th, but they did better in the 4th than the 3rd.
