I don't know, some of you are pretty good at putting perfume on a pig. I think it's a huge disappointment that NIU is off the schedule the next two years. While the games weren't that close there were great crowds the last three years against NIU, and aside from us and Miami, they are the only other MAC team (ex. Marshall) that could beat a ranked opponent on any given Saturday. And who can forget the College Gameday game.
And I also think it blows that we have to travel to Miami next year. It just makes the road to the Rose Bowl that much more difficult. If we could have swapped Miami at home against one of the mice were playing our attendance figures could have been huge.

This will now require us to win a big road game every year.... :P
The only thing that surprises me about this post is how long it took for you to type it up.

Hey, don't look at me. I would have chosen to stay in the West.

But the decision has been made, and it has been much discussed in other threads. I'm ready to look forward.

Though a question I have is whether the stadium will be ready by then, since they are remodeling it, and from what I've heard, its a mess right now. Granted they have a few months to get everything done, but this IS Ohio people.
Well, I give Miami more respect. They have beaten the Falcons 6 straight games now...and BG hasn't won in Oxford since 1996, 14-10.
They are the ONE team that always seems to give us fits...our achilles heel if you will.

I hope that game isn't on a weekday so I can go cuz that is one long 4 hr drive down and 4 hr drive back on a work night. :? I have a feeling it will end up on ESPN/2.

200 days and counting....

Well now we can fill in the blanks . . .

Here's the rest of the schedule:

2005: @ Wisconsin, @ Boise State, v. Temple

2006: v. Boise State, @ Wyoming, v. Wisconsin (at Cleveland)- we're the "home" team

2007: add in pass-happy Wyoming and that's as tough of a home schedule as you'll find outside of the SEC or ACC. Road trips to Arizona State and a game to be announced as well. Welcome to D-1 football Mr. Turner!

2008: A home game is TBA, maybe two . . . I thought this was the next confirmed 12-game season. Roadies at Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh.

2009: Home and Road games are TBA, to go along with the roadie at Missouri, any bets on whether Pinkel is still there?

2010: SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 . . . Our date with Destiny . . . Freddie Barnes or whoever the next QB after Anthony Turner is leads the Falcons past the damn Buckeyes in a thriller in THEIR HOUSE. OSU, September 18, 2010 in the Horseshoe.

As scary as some of those games look, our schedule should be a recruiting tool as well . . . "Come to BG and play in bowl games, win championships and beat the BCS in the process"

Yep. This is the next 12 game season thanks to the funky Labor Day or whatever part of the calendar allows 12 games, though they're still going back and forth on adding a 12th game regardless of the calendar for all years.

I read something yesterday about ND's future scheduling, and it said that they were debating, with a 12 game schedule having EIGHT of them at home. I know they're independent, so it makes them a bit of a scheduling exception, but if any team gets 2/3 of their games at home, someone needs to put their foot down.

The other thing with Notre Dame was that they were going to have a "rotating" neutral site game every year for the 12th game. AD Kevin White described it as "another bowl game."

Roughly 2,022 days til the Date with Destiny...give or take a day for leap year in 2008.

59 days til the spring game.

Hey, we were one of tOSU's 8 home games for the 2003 season! Its all about money, but really....there should be a mandate of no more than 7 home games. Heck, we're lucky to get 5!

I'll simply be happy if we manage a 6th home game.

Ditto. Its not fair that us mid-majors are getting screwed out of our Home Games because the BCS punks think they are all high and mighty. Oh how I loath the BCS. But thats besides the point. We will end this streak of losses to Miami, seven is the magic number.

Unfortunately, we're part of the problem. We get a bigger payday playing them than if we play at our own stadium. The only thing that is going to correct this is if the NCAA mandates it.

2005
Home: Ohio, Akron, Western Michigan, Toledo
Away: Miami, Kent State, Buffalo, Ball State
------------------------------------------------------

Do you guys think this is roughly the order in which we will play them?

It kinda sucks playing Miami so early in the season, if this is the case (think about NIU last year :( )

I guess it doesn't matter who we play, when we play, as long as we COME to play !!
