PJ definitely looked quick at the spring game. Hope that carries into the regular season.

Since his first season here, I've always been a PJ Pope fan. I really think we're spoiled having him. If we wanted to say screw this spread crap and install a pro-style offense I think Pope could easily be a 1500+ guy for us. He hits the holes quick and runs hard.

I still think he'll need a solid 40 to get drafted, but he's definitely shown me the talent up until this point.

I think PJ is the best RB I've seen here. Bernard White was pretty versatiole, but I think PJ's the man. For the life of me, I'll never understand why we didn't just line up with two TE's and run PJ (and BJ to spell him) during the 3rd qtr against UT. They ran the goal line offense with PJ at QB for a spell and pushed the ball downfield and then they went back to the passing and the drive stalled.

Even if we didn't get points, we would have killed more clock and probably moved the ball enough to get field position on them.

Ah...last year was last year. We'll handle things this year at the Doyt.

Flipper wrote:FWIW, Gregg Brandon has said that "people who know football" say that PJ is our best overall player. He looked a little faster than last year during the spring game. On his long TD run there were a couple of guys that looked like they had an angle on him at the end of the run but he outran them anyway (I didn't have the best view, Freddy was talking to my kid and that blocked my view for most of the play).
I lucked into snapping a decent photo of P J during that spring game TD run.

I think a brown jersey would fit with our current scheme. I would add our new word mark in a small size to the front of the current orange and white ones (replacing the falcon head) and then put the falcon head on the alternate brown shirts like this:

I like that infinitely better than then jerseys the players now wear.

I loved Bernard White. He was versatile, to be sure, but more than that, he was a character. His personality made him a joy to be around.

But on the field, there's no comparison. White was a strong runner, but Pope combines quickness, strength & vision; White was a good receiver out of the backfield, but Pope can line up as a wideout and act as a fourth or fifth receiver; White was an above average blocker, but Pope has an advantage there, too.

Obviously the tryout didn't go well for Hawk. But atleast he is coming back to Bowling Green this year to finish his degree.
