Well, TG, if you'd ever watched BG play, you'd realize we start 4 WRs.TG1996 wrote:Brantley on the first team? That's a name I don't remember hearing much about. How many receivers do we have on the first team, anyway?BG_Kiwi wrote:First-team receiver Kenneth Brantley II was shaken up after a hit that caused him to fumble. He stood on the sidelines for the rest of practice.I figured it was Sharon and Sanders, then probably Partridge and Alexander getting alot of "post-spring game love". Now Brantley is thrown into the mix? Nice!

The question is, will Alexander redshirt this year? Brandon has said he hopes to redshirt everyone. Obviously he's still considering playing a couple freshmen, but will Alexander be one of them?
He appears to be more than ready to go right now, but I kind of think we would be better off redshirting him. We've got so many good WR's already. I could just see him playing sparingly this year and doing just fine with the minutes he gets, but if he redshirts, he would likely be a four year starter.
I see it as being somewhat similar to the situation with Turner. He could have played last year as Jacob's backup, and would have been fine. I'm really glad we redshirted him though so we'll have him one more year.

BG... that's in Kentucky, right?Warthog wrote:Well, TG, if you'd ever watched BG play, you'd realize we start 4 WRs.Oh, and I think Alexander and Partridge are playing behind Sharon and Sanders.
I figured four, I think my math got thrown off when I forgot that Alexander was a TRUE freshman. It's ALL coming back to me now....

Thanks for the updates everyone! I remember the first day of fall drills last Sunday...the one thing that stood out about the D was how aggressive they seemed. They were FLYING around everywhere.
Our D is gonna be a lot better than anyone thinks...and that is the key to us winning the MAC Title. We have the O....now we'll have the D.
TImchenko has me a bit worried....
I hope he gets it in gear.
Next scrimmage is 8/20 at 4pm.
LESS THAN 20 DAYS!! YEAH BABY!

They are great..."Parks plays like his hair's on fire". And Parks doesn't have hair.able1 wrote:"Parks is having a good camp, that's why he's such a good player, he plays like his hair's on fire," Brandon said. "He goes like an egg beater."
Gotta love the Brandon-isms.

I am in the same boat. I think our defense has a sense of urgency that they have to be better. You cannot put the whole load on the offense every game. It sounds like they are busting their butts and I like the way the defensive lineup is looking.Falconfreak90 wrote: Our D is gonna be a lot better than anyone thinks..

Corey is playing H where Cole was last year. It's a good competition between him and Brandon Jones for that spot. They will mostly likely split time there this year. Alexander is playing behind Sharon at X. Marques Parks is behind Sanders at E. Lett and then Brantley at Z. Or it could be the other way around now.Warthog wrote: I think Alexander and Partridge are playing behind Sharon and Sanders.
We are very fortunate to have such a great group of receivers. We won't see much of a drop off when the subs come in for some PT. It will be hard for some to get recognized due to all of them being very capable and the way our offense spreads the ball around.
I am coming up next Friday for pictures and the Saturday scrimmage. Hope to see some of you.

You can say that again!!!!! Though if we DO see a drop off, it's probably their father's fault anyway.Spart43 wrote:We are very fortunate to have such a great group of receivers.

Just ask Corey, he will tell you it's always my fault. Since he got the genetics of a cross country runner that went to Kent State of all things.TG1996 wrote: Though if we DO see a drop off, it's probably their father's fault anyway.

A few thoughts. . .
I also agree our Defensie will be MUCH improved and will pleasantly surprise Falconation.
Did we ever figure out if the southpaw QB was in fact Kennedy, and what the deal was there? (we have speculated Van Johnson would be the emergency QB cause he has ran the system, but is it Benjy instead?)
How do you pronounce Marques Parks name? Is it Marcus or Mar-kez?

The Scrimmage.......
Yeah, the D looked like it has something to prove. I think they want to be know as brutal defense not a half there-every-once-in-a-while defense. Does anyone know why Rhett was getting reps at receiver? I expected to see him on D as a corner. By the way I don't think #34 was Stover. I think it might have been this freshman Bobby Thomas. He looked good though. I like the way he slashed his way down field. Aaron Davis a reciever (#37 I think) looked pretty good sized from what I could see. These freshman O-lineman are huge too. #64 had to be 6'7 and another guy too looked around 6'7 or so. O-line looks stacked for years to come! Does anyone know why Cooley was out?
