My family and I have had very pleasant experiences at Ohio State. The OSU fans that sat near us were complimentary of BG before, during and even after the game.
On the other hand, Toledo was awful. I have gone to 2 games there-the first when I was in college and was hit in the head with a beer bottle thrown by a UT fan. Ended up with several stitches in the head after that incident and swore I would never go to another game at Toledo. Until last fall, which was my daughter's senior year at BGSU. She and one of her friends wanted to go to the game. We were meeting my husband at the stadium as he had some job-related obligation that had him running late. I took the girls to the game, and it was just as bad as I feared it would be. We were wearing BG clothing and as we walked toward the stadium the insults started. I was asked several times how I felt about my daughter having STD's. We just kept walking and kept our mouths shut. That wasn't good enough-the fans (some students and some much older) started to follow us. My daughter and her friend were really upset and thought we should just leave, but at that moment some other BG fans came to our rescue and and escorted us to the stadium and stayed with us until we met up with my husband. So now I am back to saying that I will never attend a game at Toledo again-unless I have some really big bodyguards that is.

I can honestly say that I've never had a problem at Toledo. Actually very hospitable in the lot. I think I've been to four games up there.
Other good fans: Navy
Indifferent (I don't remember good or bad): Kent, Miami, Eastern.
Being really good on the field plays games with your head as a fan. I don't remember too many Marshall fans shooting their mouths off last year.

For football, the worst I've ever been to is Marshall and OSU. Granted, both were the band, and everyone knows that the band is a target. I don't think I breathed an easy breath until I was back on the bus home.
I'm not sure about the best...I think I have to go with the Memphis fans last December in Alabama. I know it wasn't exactly their home turf, but we were out numbered by at least 2:1.

TSASOTFMB!!!!
Despite what some may say, we were always treated exceptionally well at Marshall in Huntington. We invited into tailgates, given food and beer by numerous parties. The conversation was always friendly, and it was a great atmosphere. I'll miss Marshall in the MAC--they rose the bar, but am ready for BG to be the bully of the MAC.
For me the best experience i had away was at Northwestern when we came back to win.
The worst for me has been at Toledo and at Miami
The Toledo fans were followling me and my friend back to our car, which was very annoying.
The miami fans were horrible, when i was walking to the staduim with my friend, a drunk miami fan was walking with us chanting stupid things. Then during the game the entire student section was calling bg, std university. it just wasnt a good experience, plus losing to big ben sucked too.

poor treatment
By far, its been the road trip to NIU a couple of years ago. Even the UT kids are better then those trash balls.

I remember shouting to President Ribeau as we left the stadium to fire Blackney. I enjoyed Blackney's time here but that lack of effort and pride pushed me over the edge. After hearing all the "BG SUCKS" and "GO BACK TO OHIO YOU LOSERS" I could take, I got back to an empty parking lot and not a soul around. I had 3 Coors Lights left and sat on the curb drinking them and it started to rain. Talk about a Charlie Brown moment. LOL! But that experience helps me enjoy the good times even more. Losing sux period. Not taking anything away from Buffalo...cuz they had lost 18 straight games and saw the opportunity to win. The Bulls wanted it more than BG did and the Bulls were a 21 pt underdog. Ouch.Schadenfreude wrote:Agreed. Gosh I was angry.Falconfreak90 wrote:[That was the worst game I've ever been to as a BG fan. The only bright spot of the trip was meeting the honorable Lord Byron!
Blackney did the classy thing and resigned the next week and that allowed the University to get a jump start on getting a new coach....and we got one heck of a coach in his place.
Thank goodness that was 5 years ago! There will be NO repeat of that perfomance in Buffalo this season. We'll see ya'll there on 10/15!

One of the greatest games I've ever seen....college, HS, Pro....and to get the win was even better.edr4225 wrote:For me the best experience i had away was at Northwestern when we came back to win.
I was totally wired driving back from Chicago. Mrs Freak asked if I could make the drive and I told her after what we just saw, I could have driven to Boston.
