Uh..this is what I talked about several weeks earlier. Thats why every game I go to I aim to get into the student section where it is roudy and easier to get into the game and get loud. We seem to have so many friggin' old people (no offense) that are just there to sit and watch and not react. I swear it seems like 60% of the fans in the stadium are seniors, or at least they act like it. Ever wonder why we have the stadium police telling students to sit down or get off the benches cuz no one in the regular reserved section has any intrest in really cheering at all.hamjunior wrote:I was sitting with my dad last Sat. on the east side of the stadium and at the beginning of the game there were a couple of plays BG made that we stood up and cheered for, I know that is hard to believe during that game, and I remember telling my dad to look around and it was almost shocking that not only was nobody else standing but they were doing absolutely nothing. I think my exact words were "What the hell is going on here!!!".

Are they dead on the east side? The season ticket holders on the west side (no offense to those of you on here that are west-siders) barely have a pulse. Mike Ward's wife and a few others are the only people that are really into the game. Most others are listening to OSU or Notre Dame or Michigan or are, like myself, somewhat afraid of being scolded for standing up and cheering. I'm done caring what people behind me think, though. I'm up and screaming at the top of my lungs on every single 3rd down starting this weekend. If people behind me want to see the game, they can get off their butts. I hope to see a much more lively crowd tomorrow.Flipper wrote:The Doyt is two stadiums in one. On the west side, the crowd is pretty loud(students+Freak+hammb+buckets of Crown Royal =noise). The east is a quieter, more sedate bunch.
Maybe the people on the east side are listening to the Ohio Stae game on their walkman's (walkmen?)
Yep. #9 overall in 1961.h2oville rocket wrote:Bernie Casey was first rounder I think, to the 49ers. Not sure how many chosen ahead of him though. MAC press guide agrees.

And that is exactly what it takes. The reason people just sit there is because everyone else around them is doing the same, and the few that want to get up and make some noise are too afraid of getting yelled at. If just a few people would say "screw it" and take the little abuse they would recieve, people would start to get the message. As I have seen mentioned on Miami's board, many of these older people went to school at a time when they were handed a booklet on proper conduct at sporting events. That is all they know, and many have not recognized the fact that times have changed simply because there have always been old people yelling at people for standing.BGGrad01 wrote: I'm done caring what people behind me think, though. I believe in old people. They can get the message, they can stand, and they can make noise. Sometimes you just have to kick them. OK, don't really kick them. I meant that figuratively.

As mentioned in one of the basketball threads-Don't worry, it's BG. Any attempted kicks would be short or wide anyway.h2oville rocket wrote:[. Sometimes you just have to kick them. OK, don't really kick them. I meant that figuratively.

There's ALWAYS a gathering. Somehow, some way. I think I'm showing up around 11:30 and bumming around until I find a familiar face. It's the Journey... wrote:I will be there tomorrow as well. Will there be any gathering before the game??

I'm gettin' ready to head over that way pretty soon TG. I'll be in the grassy area on the north end of the East Lot...if I can find a spot.TG1996 wrote:There's ALWAYS a gathering. Somehow, some way. Even though Bernie Casey will be best remembered for his role in "Revenge of the Nerds", his most touching performance, and my personal favorite, would be as the head gargoyle in the outstanding B-flick "Gargoyles".

I'm an east sider -- my seats are better that way, I think -- and there is a lot of truth to this, I think. The people who would go bezerk don't because of the culture over there. I'm one of them. Unless I'm pretty sauced, I tend to sit like the rest of 'em.Bleeding Orange wrote:And that is exactly what it takes. But that was one exciting game Saturday, so there were moments were the fans were getting more animated. At one point -- one of the big do or die third or fourth down plays for Turrner and the Falcons -- an older woman stood up and started raising her arms in that raise the roof motion.
Noise didn't help in that situation. But I give her credit.
