No playing time equals no film or stats...hard to generate much interest without those.

Re: Portal 2021
Precisely my thoughts. Probably better to stick it out at BG than go the D2 route, but oh well. Either he was misevaluated in high school, or the staff did a poor job developing him.

Re: Portal 2021
Delonus Kabir, a 6’3/315lb offensive lineman, has committed to BG.
He was a 3-star out of Florida in high school, with an offer from UCF. He ultimately went to Florida A&M for 2 seasons before entering the portal. He committed to Alcorn State a few days ago before he changed his mind and decided to come to BG. Also had a Toledo offer while in the portal.
He’ll have 3 years of eligibility remaining. He is the 6th offensive line transfer and the 15th overall guy to choose BG from the portal this offseason.

Guessing this isn't a guy coming in to play right away. I imagine he'll be a backup for a full season before seeing the field unless he really shows something in fall practice.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 2:53 pm Delonus Kabir, a 6’3/315lb offensive lineman, has committed to BG.

Not sure if anyone had previously posted it, but Jayden George is no longer listed on the athletic website's roster. Haven't seen anything posted about him entering the transfer portal.

There were some tweets about him entering the portal a few weeks ago.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 3:24 pm Not sure if anyone had previously posted it, but Jayden George is no longer listed on the athletic website's roster. Haven't seen anything posted about him entering the transfer portal.

It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: Portal 2021
New addition through the portal, reported by Rivals. Tunde Fatukasi, OL from Rutgers. You might remember the name because we were one of his top 3 when he made his decision previously, along with Buffalo, I believe. He's 6'4" 300lbs, and has appeared on the two-deep for Rutgers for both of his freshman-eligible years, but never saw game time. I'm guessing he got word he wasn't playing this year either and made the jump.
I think this is a nice late grab for BG. He's really strong and looks pretty athletic for his size, also has a great family pedigree. His older brother just signed a $30 million with the Jags as a DT. I'm assuming he won't be a starter but will probably see some snaps as a backup throughout the season.

Hopefully, he's NFL caliber so Matt can stay upright...

Re: Portal 2021
OL Jake Burns from Cincinnati has also transferred in. Either there are injuries or there are some more linemen on their way out.

Re: Portal 2021
I hope like hell these are just roster depth players coming in, and not because we're losing proposed starters or telling these kids they will start here. You cannot build a competent OL on the fly like this no matter how talented the kids might be individually. It oftentimes takes years for an OL to gel and work together, patching it together in August is far from ideal.
Especially since we already know the entire offensive scheme is too stupid and inflexible to adapt itself to sub-par OL play.

Both might not be eligible until next season, working to try and confirm that. Burns may also be a walk-on.hammb wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 8:29 am I hope like hell these are just roster depth players coming in, and not because we're losing proposed starters or telling these kids they will start here. I have no issues at all bringing in more players to compete and make the team better in an area of weakness. I do have issue giving away starting jobs to kids who weren't in the program in July...even if they might be the better individual players it isn't likely to result in better play of the unit.

Re: Portal 2021
Based on recent performance....I have zero faith that the OL coach is the guy to pull together a line quickly
