It's the Journey... wrote:When I was last in town they had started the waterproofing above the locker room area and it looked great. I would have been nice if they had the time and or money to treat the whole stadium. That color of gray gives that area a more finished look and would have been a nice cosmetic improvement for the start of the season.
I agree, Journey. I think it would look great to see the whole stadium floor in that gray color...looks "new", not worn after 40 years of service.

I guess with the list of things to do, we'll have to wait a bit.

Oh baby....get the season going NOW!!!

That is a pretty cool idea to waterproof the whole stadium, and it would really look nice

On my walk over to the stadium today I noticed a couple things.

1. As was stated, the grind is going in. When I was there it looked like they were laying down quite a bit of sand. I imagine the Grind follows closely after.
2. They're fencing in the endzone opposite the Sebo. Looks nice.
3. It actually looked like they were waterproofing beyond what had originally been done. I don't think/know if they're going to do all of it, but I agree it would be a nice touch.
4. I'm happy with both endzones saying "Bowling Green" as opposed to one saying "Falcons". The field is more symmetrical that way.
5. The track area is coming along nicely, with a net up around the discus platform (I think that's what it is)

I can't wait to get out there and see all of it in action once the seasons start!

The sand and the fine grind are down. They now have to rake that in with the special tractor, then apply the bigger chunks, and rake them in, and finally our new playing surface should be complete.
Yeah right girl!

Does the sand come up when you play on it?

I was a student at Browlee's baseball academy for a number of years, and right around the end of my time there he built a new facility and had an entire field-turf baseball playing surface installed. Until today, I did not even know that sand was a part of the equation.

Nope, but the coarse grind does quite a bit. You don't get dirty, you just get covered in small chunks of rubber.
Like Niz, until yesterday I had no idea that sand was any part of it.
