Good points by all. I would favor Field Turf and extend the use of the field. Soccer, other team practices etc. Get those HS playoff games like OU does and so on. I think HS recruits favor Field Turf.
I like grass. I like flexibility, consistency, recruiting advantage, multipurpose and lower maintenance better.
Go Falcons!
Time for a Change?
From the Media Notes for the UT game...
"Following last week’s game against Miami, the BGSU athletic department
will look into whether it should replace the existing turf with a synthetic surface or remain the only school in the MAC to have a grass field next season. Ball State, the only other school to have natural grass, is scheduled to put in Field Turf during the off-season."
I can't imagine that would be included in the notes unless we were SERIOUSLY considering installing fieldturf in the near future.

MACMAN
lets see...my kids go to school, the go to the play ground...the play grounds are covreed in wood chips, threaded rubber or small stones...why? because some moron has felt that if these substances are "fluffed" every day they are safer for kids...
I say not. why because our kids dont learn realistic limits and if I jump off a swing at apogee I might get hurt. There is alot to be said for a little pain and discomfort and the learning other reciece from watching another in a bit of pain...esp after being stupid.
Grass fields are NATURAl they are where the game is meant to be played, astro turf was faster sure, field turf is said to be some magic mid ground...yet neither are as good as grass. None smell like grass, leave stains like grass or maintain a real variable to the game like Grass. no substitute for grass will ever be as good as grass...none can turn to mud but grass, and being able to play inthe mud is part of the game, but then again..we changed the game for tv by adding game shortening clock rules that ruin the game so why not...heck, why should the players wear uniforms either they are not important tot he game...dont the palyers know who is one which team.

I've often thought that we should go back to our roots and play a game behind Ridge Street school... but those monkey bars would likely take someone's head off.Flipper wrote:I'm sorry...are you suggesting we play the games at your kid's playground?
