It would be. Lucky for us, Bowling Green hasn't done that since the 1970s. Last one: Grand Valley State. I believe the year was 1978.

Non I-A?

What about Tenn Tech just off the top of my head... I think there has been a I-AA school on BG's schedule about every other year for sometime now.

From what I can tell I am pretty sure that they are talking about the non-scholarship D-1A teams which as they are saying dont count toward bowl eligiblity.

Let's clarify...Non division 1 means teams below 1A or 1AA classification. Division 1 refers to 1A or 1AA. 1AA teams can be further divided into schools that offer football scholarships and schools that don't although that isn't a formal classification within 1AA.

We should play nothing below 1AA that offers scholarships. From a competrtive point of view, I can't seee playing a team that doesn't provide scholarships as being a worthwhile match up.

Agree. Now redskins4ever takes it a step further and says we are sissies if we play anything other than 1A. I'm not sure he realizes that would likely mean we'd play all 4 of our OOC on the road most years since our administration doesn't appear to have the ability of Miami or Toledo to actually get 1A OOC home games.

It shouldnt be this hard to schedule I-A OOC home games... there are what 119 Division I-A schools... that means that there should be plenty of teams that are willing to do a 1 for 1 and if you make the buyout large enough... schools wont skip out on you.

2nd... Rick Chryst is screwing over a couple of MAC schools right now including BG... why BG/Miami/UT would ever help out an Akron or Kent is beyond me... I refuse to be the patsy in these situatiuons... let Akron and Kent figure it out and give Chryst the finger!

Sounds easy, but apparently our administration has been unable to get that first game of the 1 and 1 at home and unable and/or unwilling to make the buyout large enough. That's interesting when other MAC schools are able to make this happen; it make you wonder....

I don't feel that we should be playing 1-AA teams either. I also am not real impressed with the MAC administration the last few years.

I agree. I was real happy with the MAC office up to a couple years ago. Lately? BUSH LEAGUE.

'87,

This guy from the BG marketing dept called me last week about the MAC tourney in Cleveland. He was the one that told me to expect 5 home games this year. I told him that was totally unacceptable. He said he understood where I was coming from. That's all that was said but I'll believe 6 home games when I see it.

Damn, this has just been a horrible sports year for BG men's teams.

Mike,
Believe the "FIVE" home game scenario..As I mentioned in other posts re: the "loss" of the Boise game, my talk with a highly ranked Ath. Dept. person certainly led me to believe that we'll only have FIVE this year...but maybe SIX after that.

I don't understand all of the secrececy about scheduling. Wouldn't it make sense for someone in the athletic department to go public and let us know where we stand, what is solid, what is in the works etc.
I find it interesting that our new AD doesn't attend any of the "radio" shows, did not attend the football recruiting party, or many other public functions and when he is at a game, he usually sits with other university administrators. Isn't that the way you get to know alot of BG fans and those that "pay the bills" for the athletic department. Just wondering.

Factman: what you suggest is, in fact, the way to manage the public on an issue like this. Get the facts out. Give a progress report.

Mike & Den: Between what you two have posted, I believe we must assume that we'll have 5 home games in 2007. This is getting me sick to my stomach. You know, I can't imagine that they believe they can build a solid fan base without giving people an opportunity to come to see the team.
