I know you have a hard time understanding this, But.. Schools make more money and get better publicity playing D1A football even when they have no shot at a nat'l championship then they do Playing in the D1AA Championship. That is why they move up.

I don't see it guys, I like this schedule. We get to play games at Minn., MSU and BC thus expanding our recruiting visibility in some pretty important areas. The Homecoming game with WKU, simply fit our modus operandi. Honestly when was the last time we had a good homecoming opponent. Homecoming is meant to be a slam dunk game for the casual alumni that comes back to campus for the game. It makes the casual fans bravado expand with pride for a BG team that beat up on the WKU's of the world. And we just have to swallow the MAC schedule, that's just how it is. So not much point in griping about Temple or the rest of the MAC teams on our schedule. Like a first year AD is actually going to stand up to the long-time commissioner of the MAC and say no we will not play Temple again. Not gonna happen. As for the three ESPNU games on Fridays, I think that's great. We get three of the MAC's 8 televised games. Grant we have 3 of the 4 ESPNU games and none of the ESPN2 games. But man, that ESPNU seems to be catching on.... alright I just can't keep it up. I'm laughing trying to type some of this. The schedule is what is is though, it fits the typical mold of BG schedule past and to expect more would be just plain silly. I blame all of you for actually believing BG would schedule a decent home schedule and not Christopher.

It's a Journey.....

My seven year old could have improved on a 4 home game schedule. How much of an accomplishment is that?

I am not putting down my pitch fork and my fire seems to be getting bigger. Pencil out the home schedules for the last 4 years, and tell me how we can trust what they tell us?

They are driving us to 1 AA.

UK you're a douche bag. Pack up your soon to be GVSU D-II Laker Ass (although GVSU does compete in a playoff to determine a Champion, so they must be better than BG) and get the f**k out of my office. Either raise a torch and pitchfork or shut-up.

And what about the fact that the UT game is on ESPN U? That's BS too. Although that way I guess fans might actually show up. And those Friday night games are a horrible idea.

Well, maybe your 7 year old should get a job with the MAC. As for the last 4 years, let me see, perhaps because it was done by a different athletic director... We could announce an OCC with the top 5 teams in the country and 12 games at home and people would still bitch. We can't control it but that doesn't mean we stop supporting our Falcons. I will be renewing my season tickets and going from 1 set to at least 2. I was looking for a schedule with OCC games that were winnable for a competitive (key word) BG team and we have that. Lets just go play the games and see where the chips fall. I just wonder why people are so hard on Greg Christopher in his first year and were not as hard on Paul Krebs during his first year. There is a learning curve here like it or not.

The one thing I hate the most is the Toledo game is on the FRIDAY of Thanksgiving break!! I have a very strong feeling that when the FMB plays, it's just gonna echo around the entire stadium because there won't be anyone there!! Everyone will still be on vacation, and it sucks for both the football players and the band members because we'll have to come back to campus for that one day. It's rediculous!!

okay...rant over

As far as the OOC games go, I'm pleased, granted Boise State won't be coming to the Doyt this year, but as long as the team does extremely well against Minnesota and Michigan State and then rolls through the rest of the schedule, we should be sitting high at the end of the year. Just my thoughts through my orange and brown glasses

UK - how many home games do you go to each year? Just curious. How many years have you been a season ticket holder? If your answer is 4 or greater to either of those questions, your statements might be more credible, if less than 4, not so credible.

Maybe this is just a cock-eyed experiment to see if they can get better attendance for the Women's Basketball team than the Football team next year.

Umm... count me IN for the game at Minnesota though. I know at least 4 of us that'll be there, and hopefully some of you'll be able to make it to the Hump Dome before they move into their new stadium.

Absolutely. I may hate the schedule, but I'm still a die-hard fan. I plan on going to as many of the games as possible if not all.

Yeah, it'll be like the 2-9, "Run it up the middle," end of the Blackney-era, lose to Temple and Buffalo, 2000 season, except no one was on vacation... they just never came to the games. :(

Edit: For the record, I just tallied up the attendance from that season, and they came up to an average of 8,464/game that season. The Pitt game had the most fans at 11,533, while the OU game had the fewest at a pittiful 6,646.

Journey - O.K. - i won't point the finger at our AD. However please do not be blind by not recognizing failed home schedule promises, one year after another is a serious problem. It's excuse after excuse. For several years, we were pissed at Marshall, or FIU or can't even remember how many other schools they told us backed out of 1 and 1's or even 2 for 1's. At some point, we have to start to question the fact that maybe's it's us. Maybe it's BG's fault for some of these continued miscues.

We are just like the parent who can't believe little Johnny could do such a thing and it must have been someone elses fault. Sooner or later after so many run-ins with the law, that parent has to start to think that maybe's it's Johnny and not the law.

I am really trying to figure out what point your trying to make here. To you, there seems to be a magic number of season ticket years that makes me a credible BG fan, like that's the only logical measure of a BG's fan aptitude. I don't see how if I told you I had 20 years versus 0 years of season tickets of how that makes any difference. The truth is I have never had season tickets, so obviously I'm not qualified to make any comments on BG. Other than the 8 years (B.S. and Ph.D.) I was a student at BG and attended all home games for free and a number of away games and the three years since at UK where PGY and I have made numerous trips to glorious BG, Ohio, then yes I don't know s**t. If you're trying to point me to some great OOC schedule of years gone bye, then have it. I'm sure it will include those great years we had UC, or Mizzu, or Navy perhaps. So what is your point?

GC trying to place part of the blame on FIU canceling is ridiculous. All he had to do was replace them with ANY DI-AA team, and then tell Chryst to get bent. Simple. We'd then have Boise coming to visit along with the 6 homes games WE'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE EVERY FREAKING YEAR!!!! 12 DIVIDED BY 2 EQUALS 6!!!! IT DOESN'T EQUAL 5!!!!!! #$@#%#$#!?!?!?!?

I just love the part about 5 homes games is an improvement. Wasn't the Wisconsin game considered a home game? If this is an improvement, apparently you're saying that having that game at CBS was a bad idea?

Why didn't the MAC take away a home game from Toledo instead, given they have 7 scheduled? Because Toledo's AD probably has a pair.
