Football Committ
Here is some additional information on the two OL from Middletown.
Walker is a three year starter at left tackle for Middletown and Robinson has started since his freshman year moving from left tackle to right tackle. Both have been heavily recruited by schools in the MAC, Big 10, Big East and ACC. Schools in the running for them outside of the MAC have included Michigan State, Illinois, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Marshall, Nebraska, Indiana and The U (Miami, FL.). Both camped at BG and were coached again at OSU this summer by BG staff. Both have very good GPA's, north of 3.0. Both are rated in the top 75 of all Ohio players by Ohio High Magazine.
On Blaec Wlaker (6-6, 321) : ESPN Scouts, Inc. Profile Rating of “74” and considered the #65 OT in nation. Here’s the evaluation:
"Walker is one half of a large offensive tackle duo at Middletown High. He has good size and carries it well. He is a good pass blocker. He displays the ability to play with some knee bend. He keeps a good base and can kick back and stay square. He does a good job of being able to mirror a rusher in the short area. He needs to work getting back a little faster. Also like his teammate Robinson he can struggle some adjusting to quick counters. As a run blocker he can get into a defender and wash him past the play. He gets good hand placement, but does not always use his size to his advantage. At times he will be a positional blocker and get hands on and try and stay in front of the defender. He can struggle to maintain because he leaves space between him and the defender. You would like to see a kid with his size get into a defender, smother him, and drive him off the line of scrimmage. He moves adequately and does a solid job of getting up to the second level and getting a piece of moving targets. He takes smart angles, but has some trouble adjusting to moving targets in space. Walker is a good prospect with size and ability. He may end up being a better fit at the guard spot in college." Walker's father was a standout baseball player at EMU. Blaec earned 2nd team all GMC honors and honorable mention
Chip Robinson is 3 stars on Rivals, and rated as the 45th highest ranked OG in the nation by ESPN Scouts. He is 6-61/2 and 351. Robinson is a huge kid that moves very well for his size and possesses excellent footwork. In camps at Michigan and Ohio State he dominated on pass protection not allowing one sack in pass pro drills. On the field he has dominated the opposition with aggressive play on run blocking working well into the second level. His pass protection is as solid as it gets. He was selected as one of the 22 best football players in the Miami Valley for 2007, selected to participate in the US Army All-American Combine this past January, earned first team GMC honors, first team all Cincinnati, first team all Southwest District and Honorable Mention All-Ohio. He benches 400# and squats over 500#. Very smart lineman who will be looked at to move inside to either guard or center. His oldest brother was a tight end at Miami-Oh from 1999-2003.
Getting these two OL with a lot of playing time in high school in one of the better leagues in Ohio bodes well for BG who is losing six seniors after this year.
The head coach for Middletown is former Miami assistant head coach, Ron Johnson and the OL is coached by Matt Tyla of BGSU.[/img]

I watched the kicker for Clyde this past Friday at Huron High School. He has a BIG TIME LEG! Almost every kickoff was a touchback and his PAT's were travelling 50 yard easy. I wouldn't be surprised if he has many offers from colleges. He didn't kick any FG's that I remember, Clyde was too busy scoring TD's!

Sounds like Matt Rinehart of Dover. Same thing...most kickoffs are going out of the end zone and he also punts the hell outta the ball. And for good measure, he is Dover's leading WR and plays in the secondary on D. I'm heading down to Dover Friday night to see their game with Claymont.mjmorefield wrote:I watched the kicker for Clyde this past Friday at Huron High School. He has a BIG TIME LEG! I emailed Coach Rothenbuhler about Rinehart. This kid can flat out punt and kick. Great all round football player.
Seeing as Iovinelli and Vrvilo will be here only thru the 08 season, we'll need to replace both.

Nice job, SF. We gotta stay on our toes with this stuff but it was great to hear from bsman62.Schadenfreude wrote:Thanks for the post, and good luck in making a decision.bsman62 wrote:We visited BG for the Temple game and last summer for the "Big Man's Camp".
And I guess I should leave it at that, since:
(a) all of us, as fans, alumni, benefactors and season ticket holders, are representatives of Bowling Green's athletic interests and seen as "boosters" by the NCAA.
(b) it strikes me as possible that you just might be Blane's parent or legal guardian. (Although we obviously can't know that for sure based on that post).
By the way, if (b) isn't true, let us know. I'm sure a lot of us would be able to talk your ear off about BGSU.
Otherwise -- BGSU has never had a major NCAA infraction, and I want to be very careful to keep it that way.

Speaking on Orsbon, I have known that kid literally almost all of his life. He is one hell of an athlete. I would love to see him end up in the Orange and Brown. He is a legit playmaker. I know I'm biased here and all of you probably are as well, but I think of it like this, if Briggs were to come here, he wouldn't be smothered. I don't think that Ball State has the depth at receiver to keep from him being keyed on. If he were to come here not saying that he would immediately jump up the ranks on the depth chart but he would have a much better opportunity to make plays here due to our shear number of weapons and options. The more talent on the field the easier it is to spread the ball. I think he would be a great addition to our receiving corps following along the magner, cp trend of receiver.

Thanks for the info there Sidejudge. If what all you say is true than we seem to have a couple of studs for the OL next year. Those two young men look like our future dominating LG/RG's to me.Sidejudge wrote:Here is some additional information on the two OL from Middletown.

The ESPN recruiting info shows Kluener as being a BG commit. So I googled him and found a story that says he is going to Tennessee Tech.Flipper wrote:I'm not sure about Kluener..apparently he told Rivals back in July that he visitid here and didn't like it so he was focused on Boston College and EMU.

That ESPN site must be WAY outdated...because Kluener allegedly "de-commited" months ago...don't know why, but that was the situation...as to the Tenn. Tech thing, THAT might be relatively new, as I haven't followed his situation lately.
