2008 Schedule to be out soon
Follow-up: Rutgers announced their schedule on Monday. They have a TBA opponent on 9/27, that will be played at Rutgers. They already have one I-AA opponent (Howard) on the schedule so I would suspect they want a I-A opponent for 9/27.

Frustrating as it is, I'd rather wait weeks to have it come out because of TV scheduling as opposed to "OU made a mistake we have to work out first".

Agreed, I heard they want to wait until spring break so the students wouldn't be here to go nuts when they saw Michigan on the scheduleTG1996 wrote:Frustrating as it is, I'd rather wait weeks to have it come out because of TV scheduling as opposed to "OU made a mistake we have to work out first".

Just for fun........., lets say that this is simply a PR move to avoid admitting that someone, like OU, has screwed the whole thing up.TG1996 wrote:Frustrating as it is, I'd rather wait weeks to have it come out because of TV scheduling as opposed to "OU made a mistake we have to work out first".
Interesting when I randomly checked the websites of 2 Conf. USA and 2 Sunbelt schools 3 of the 4 had their 2008 football schedule available. I hope this is simply because their "TV" deals aren't as good as ours.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
I think C-USA has a more solid x number of games in their deal with specific nights already determined. Our problem is that we don't get any Saturday games on ESPN or ESPN2. But the MAC will bend over backwards (that is make a clusterfuck of scheduling) in order to get on one of those two networks. So we have to play on Tues and Wed night which means those two teams can't play the Sat before or after that. So getting games on those networks take two weeks out of the schedule. So every game the MAC gets on TV means many changes to the rest of the schedule.FalconTurf wrote:Interesting when I randomly checked the websites of 2 Conf. But on the other hand, it isn't brain surgery. The conferences teams have their own OOC games scheduled. The MAC should have this worked out in Dec based on who they want to showcase on TV the next year. But it seems they want to sit back and let every other school/conference workd out their schedules/TV and we take the scraps and adjust our schedules to fit everyone elses.

I agree with your view. I believe that regardless of the even numbers in these other conferences they still have the pain of week night games and filling out of conference slots that work with conference scheduling. Here's a thought to ponder, if we have 13 and the BiG 10 has 11 then we simply need 8 game MAC schedules with on cross conference game and the two bottom feeders stuck playing each other non-conf. (even if it is the second time of the year). This would penalize the two bottom teams and make the schedule a lot easier with everybody needing to pick up 3 more OOC games. Gotta believe the MAC office has made a science study out of a 2 hour experiment.Warthog wrote:I think C-USA has a more solid x number of games in their deal with specific nights already determined. I've got no (or at least very little) problem with bending over backwards to get games on ESPN or ESPN2.... It's when we play a Tuesday night on ESPNU or ESPN Classic that pisses me off.

Not sure I am interpretting your thoughts correctly but one point would be that the Big Ten does not have divisions. It is a mathimatical imposibility for all MAC teams to place 8 conference games with this setup.FalconTurf wrote:Here's a thought to ponder, if we have 13 and the BiG 10 has 11 then we simply need 8 game MAC schedules with on cross conference game and the two bottom feeders stuck playing each other non-conf.

I have to say that if I were appointed MAC commish, my first order of business would be to appoint Warthog vice commish for scheduling.Warthog wrote:But on the other hand, it isn't brain surgery.
