I've held off on this post for a bit....... age and experience have taught me not to get caught up in the hysteria some people thrive on. I agree with what everyone is saying to your various posts. Do yourself a favor.... change your username and change your tone..... No says you have to be happy about the current state, but calling people out is juvenile..... This is not Columbus... this is BG.
There are similar threads and posst on message boards for other schools. And there was a "FIRE HIM ASAP!" rant going on at one of those sites and a former coach stepped in and I think he has the right attitude. So I am posting his comment here..... Just insert BG for Miami... Hockey or BBall for Football and I think we can begin to take a healthier attitude.
First of all let me state that there is no one on this board who is more disappointed with the current state of the Miami Football Program. Three consecutive blow out losses to UC makes me ill. Consecutive losses to programs like Temple and OU are also extremely hard to swallow. After spending sixteen years of my life helping the likes of Randy Walker and Terry Hoeppner build this program, it is crushing to see where it has gone in the few years since I left. However it is more disturbing to me to see Miami people fall into the obscene practice of calling for coaches jobs on the internet. I find it extremely distasteful. We are better than this. As coaches we all know that our jobs (and our ability to take care of our families) are only as secure as our next victory. The season will play out as it may and decisions regarding the programs future will be made. I just hope that we as Miamians can concern ourselves more with what we can do to help the program rather than calling for people's heads. We all care very deeply about the program. Lets concentrate on being constructive.
Now - I know this coach. I would call him an acquaintance. We have met numerous times over the years through mutual friends. I have the highest regard for him. He and his wife are the nicest people you could meet. He played at Miami and was All-Mac. He bleeds Miami. It was a shock when he left Oxford after 22 plus years being involved with the program. He is now working at the professional level.
To take Coach's comment and transfer to BG..... I would hope that we as Falcons can concern ourselves more with what we can do to help the program rather than calling for people's heads.
Furthermore...... if we all know where you worked and what you did.... would it be fair for us to come here - under an assumed name - and demand your ouster or to call you out for any support you might give to others in your organization.
Roll Along.
