He knows his way around NW Ohio too, because he spent 5 years at Defiance College back in the late 80's early 90's!

FC,
Not sure of this, but didn't we have MORE than 8 Assts. last year? Guess I'd better go to bgsufalcons.com to check out the coaching roster from last year.. Just seemed as if we had more.

BTW, has there been any word of a change or keep of our Strength coach, Aaron Hillman? Haven't heard anything mentioned in that regard.

Went to bgsufalcons...they show ELEVEN assts.(not counting Hillman) Of course, if we dropped the concept of a "running" coord. and a "passing" coord., it might eliminate at least one of the current listings.

Selfishly, the ONE guy I NEVER want to see leave BGSU is Aaron Hillman. He is simply one of the best strength coaches in the country and we are very blessed to have him.

Yeah, don't put any money on my quantity '61' . . . I was just going by the Job Listings on the Universtiy web site.

As noted, it was listed as . . . "6 Openings".

Who knows how that will all 'sort out' (Asst's, Coords, Off/Def, Strength, Grad Assts, etc, etc)????

I'd just like to see a good base so they can GET RECRUITING next week!!

My old roommate is the SID at Elon and he says Ruggerio is a solid hire and a great individual. He wishes they had him back

Could be that they're looking to "downsize" the staff a bit, and thus be able to pay a bit more than in the past... don't see the need, as I mentioned, of a running co-ord. and a passing-co-ord. when ONE Offensive co-ordinator is needed.

There are NCAA rules regarding this, and I would imagine that we would continue to employ the maximum number of coaches that the NCAA allows, or we would definitely be at a competitive disadvantage. I believe the current limit is 1 head coach, 9 assistant coaches, and 2 graduate assistants. There is no rule about what those assistants coach. You could have all 9 of them be some form of offensive coordinator if you wanted (I envision a run left coordinator, run right coordinator, pass short coordinator, pass long, etc.). :)

Hey, would that staff have Moe Ankney as the "Run it up the middle" coordinator?

Certainly not out of the orange.
Either way, there is a Mr. and Mrs. B.N. (aka rocketfootball so as not to post his real name) listed as an athletic contributor under the UT Foundation website in their 2007 annual report.

Sounds like an NCAA violation to me by having him contact recruits.

He can claim media all he wants but I doubt you will see Dave Hackenberg making any gifts to UT athletics.

According to several compliance directors and NCAA officials, the following bylaw gives an employee of Scout.com (owned by Fox media, Inc) the OK.

Booster who works with a media entity having contact with prospective student-athlete

Date Published: July 21, 1993

Interpretation:

c. Booster who works with a media entity having contact with prospective student-athlete: A media entity (e.g., radio, talk show host, newspaper reporter) who also is a representative of an institution's athletics interests may have contact with a prospective student-athlete, provided the contact is through a normal working relationship and not for the purpose of recruiting the prospective student-athlete. [References: 13.1.2.3 (general exceptions); 13.1.5.3 (contacts subsequent to signing NLI); 13.11.2 (radio/TV show), and 04/13/90 NCAA Interpretations Committee minutes, Item No. 6]

Coach Clawson should make a run at recently deposed UT offensive coordinator Chris Hedden. The guy was by far their best recruiter and specialized in the Northeast Ohio region. Ward and Campbell proved allegiance and loyalty are meaningless, so why not beat them at their own game?

Also, footballscoop.com is reporting Ed Zaunbrecher is our new offensive line coach. He was the offensive coordinator at Purdue last year and was the former OC at Marshall when they were dominating the MAC. Another excellent hire.
