Yeah, but what about wind chill?? :D

It was in the 30's for the Vegas Bowl in 1992, and dont forget the hurrincane in Mobile in 2004.

Flights from Columbus are around $555. It may be on the "too hard to do" list to get out there for the game, but we are looking into it.

A lot of us will be staying at the Grove Hotel. It's within walking distance of the stadium.

I'm thinking about mailing myself via USPS Flat rate boxes. I hear they will ship it if you can fit into the box.

It's awesome BG is getting to this bowl game. In Coach Clawson's first year, this is a great accomplishment. Idaho will be a good matchup and, if I'm not mistaken, we have a home and home series with them in a couple years. They play in the Kibbie Dome, one of the most unique stadiums in college football. Idaho should have a pretty good contingent of fans since Moscow is about 5 1/2 hours away from Boise. Idaho did beat NIU in DeKalb this year, 34-31. They will be a worthy opponent.

I have no problem with BG in this bowl...although there is no way possible for us to make the trip...simply too expensive and, well, after $900 in car repairs recently. The good news is I don't have to be at work until 10 that night so I'll be glued in front of the TV in the Sports Nest ready to watch & record the game.

As far as Boise State and TCU getting the shaft...what did everyone expect? Until the Bullsh*t Conspiracy Series is destroyed, the non bcs leagues will always get the shaft. I think TCU can beat anyone in the country this year...ANYONE. The BSU/TCU matchup should be the best in the bowl season.

I'm jealous now. Havn't stayed there, but that's supposed to be a Very nice hotel. As far as walking distance, 80%+ of downtown Boise is walkable.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it here too. Unless you are dead set on staying at the same hotel as the team/band, give some serious consideration to Hotwire. I have used them several times in downtown Boise, and almost exclusively for the last several years. Hotel rooms on there are normally between 40 and 60% off. I have not been lead astray, and have always had very nice rooms. The ONLY downside to the site is that you don't know the exact hotel prior to booking.

As far as places to eat: I could go on for several pages.

Donnie Mac's is a place that was featured on Diners, Drive In's and Drives. They advertise their fare as "Down home trailer park cooking". The food is fantastic, and reasonable in price. The place looks like it was built in an old service garage, and is decorated accordingly. Very interesting. You can even eat in a car that is up on the service lift. They also have reportedily the best frozen custard in town (don't know for sure. When we went there to try it, they were out)

The Ram is a brewery/steak house that's pretty much kiddy corner from the stadium. They serve a sampler platter of all their beers. I do recommend the potter. My fiancee and I had a steak that was marinated in the potter that was fabulous! Not cheap, but not outrageous either. It is something of a chain, but is heavily locally influenced. Is decorated as a local sports bar, while the outside reminded me of an old time movie theater. link

The other place I would recommend is the Ha Penny Irish Pub. I don't know the exact number, but I believe they have about 30 beers on tap. My personal favorite is the Kilt Lifter (and no, not just because of the name, but it is appropriate  ). They also have the best hamburger I have ever had in my live. Period. Hands down. It's located on Broad Street. link

These are just the places that my fiancee and I have visited, loved, and would/have gone back to. There are easily another dozen places in downtown Boise that we havn't tried that are on the list. You might want to check out http://www.boise.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, http://www.downtownboise.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and http://www.idahoeats.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (be careful with this one. the city filtering option doesn't really work).

While I LOVE to be able to meet some of you out here, I'll be in Ohio visiting family for the holidays until Jan. 1st. Trust me, I'm not happy. However if anyone is planning on coming out, and would like some advice on where to eat or things to do other than the game, from an inplant and friendly face, let me know. I have always said that BG is the best town in the world, but Boise is a very, Very, VERY close second.

There's a great place called Murphy's Seafood Bar and Grill. Very good food, great ambiance, not too expensive.
Also a personal note - that's where April and I got engaged September 2008.

Can we stay at your place while you are back in Ohio? I am sure you have fish or something that needs feeding. I bet some on the board will even watch your fiancee.

You proposed to your future wife over a trout at a cheap restaurant in Idaho? You BG guys are pretty weird.

In Cincinnati, we at least order Skyline Chili (four way) to make it meaningful. You usually have to ask "Sweetheart, would you mind wiping that spaghetti and chili (and onions and cheese) off of your chin so I can ask you a serious question? You finish that off with a cup of Graeter's Ice Cream and she'll remember the day forever. :tonqe:

Actually, I'm from Cincinnati. My aunt moved away to Fairbanks about 25 years ago but came to Cincy for her wedding. On the way to the reception, we all stopped at Skyline and we have photos of her, in her wedding dress with a huge bib, eating Skyline.

So on the Idaho proposal ... guys, pay attention on this one. We flew all the way across the country. The tickets to the game were in my pocket. The hotel was in my name. The plane tickets to get back were in my name. If she said no, I would have wished her the best of luck walking back. That's how you do it right. :D

Early line on the game has it anywhere from a pick 'em to BG as a 1 point favorite. The over/under ranges from 65 to 68.
