Sad news. If this is true, I hope Matt can get himself and his playing career back in order - in that order. I don't know him, but from what I can gather, he sounds like a good kid. I hope he can take care of whatever he needs to to get his life in line. Good luck to you Matt.
knowing what the consequences are, or will be, I can not understand how/why anybody would want to load themselves down with alcohol and then get into a car and drive. it boggles my mined. i guess there is always that faulty notion that --- only a slight chance that i'll get caught. oh goodness, wake up and smell the coffee. having a dui on your record today is almost the same as a felony. they shouldn't, but people make judgments about you as a result. if affects job-opportunities, it can bar you from getting life insurance (as it did a friend of mine), it would even bar you from traveling in Canada if the custom's people happen to check your record as they did to a friend of mine last summer. he and his family (on a fishing trip), had to return to the States (a dui in Canada is viewed as a felony). if you can't be happy with a beer or two (at most), then make sure somebody else is behind the wheel when you go home. just think what a dui costs. a lawyer has to be involved (ugh), there's a jail scene, a courtroom scene, confiscation of your driver's license, a the loss of driving privileges, an ugly hike in insurance rates, and maybe a loss of much more -- like a job, or a college scholarship that could be worth 10s of thousands of dollars. and finally, there is always a loss of respect. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has turned into a lecture on drinking and driving... not really appropriate for the forum, but I feel the need to add one risk to your list of DUI "costs."
You neglected the potential loss of life in your list...the biggest cost of all. It's not worth it...

And what about the poeple that might be riding with you? Doesn't it always seem that the driver walks away from a serious accident while all the passengers get killed? How would you like to be responsible for your friend's deaths? Another reason not to drink and drive.

Come on people! This is ridiculous! I can't see Matt having another DUI after getting suspended for one earlier in the season that had him missing the Oklahoma game. Is Matt that hooked on alcohal that he can't get a clue already? Man , this is bad , very bad. Especially for our run defense in this bowl game if true. I HATE crap like this!!!
