From the Chicago Tribune
Wild week for Murdock: Last week was wild for Barrington senior outside linebacker Chase Murdock, who orally committed to Toledo a few days before the school's head coach, Tim Beckham, took the Illinois job.
"Honestly, my world has been rocked just a bit this past week," Murdock said. "I felt great about my decision to commit to Toledo and I'm still solid to them, but now that the coaches are gone it will be interesting to see how things shake out over the next few weeks."
Murdock also had offers from Northern Illinois and Bowling Green.

Re: Bye Bye Timmy?
Beckman on Friday called Campbell one of the brightest young minds in college football, and perhaps that’s fitting at Toledo, where there has been a pretty good history of football coaches.
Gary Pinkel spent 10 years with the Rockets before going to Missouri. He replaced Nick Saban, who is now at Alabama, by way of Michigan State, LSU and the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.
And now, Beckman is on to the Big Ten.
...and Tom Amstutz, who is now at Dunkin Donuts!

Interesting.Flipper wrote:Matt Campbell is the guy...announced it today
In my opinion Azzanni > Campbell as a "young up and coming coach" who could step in as head coach...of course my opinion on the matter and $2.50 will get you a grande at Starbucks.

Re: Bye Bye Timmy?
Yeah..the big concern with Campbell...other than the fact that he's only 32...is his lack of experience outside of NW Ohio. He's been at Mount Union, BGSU and Toiletto...how much of a network could he have built in the coaching ranks with such a limited geography?
On the surface it might have looked like a no-brainer to keep the momentum going by staying in house, but it might have been a wiser choice to look around a little and see if you can get someone a little more expereinced.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

For comparison sake:
Beckman was making $411,540 ($409,000 base) with a possible bonus structure of up to an additional $280,000
Clawson makes $364,200 ($363,000 base) with a possible bonus structure of up to an additional $111,000
