This is true. I was just trying to reign this one back in because this same discussion is happening in about 5 other places right now.

You start dropping sports down a level or two and suddenly you are not in the MAC anymore. You are out there on your own. BGSU w/o a league affiliation isn't going to happen.

Obviously we wouldn't continue to be in the MAC...we could drop to FCS in football, immediately cut scholarships to 63...hell with the APR losses under GB we went to a bowl dressing 50-55 scholarips players..and play inthe Missouri Valley Conference with Youngstown State or we could not grant football scholarships and play in the Pioneer league with Dayton.

That would work and be an excellent option. BGSU would REMAIN NCAA division I. The league YSU plays in is very tough for basketball and I believe put 2 teams into the NCAA tournament last season.

I also like the idea of picking off a marketing person from a successful small market minor league baseball team to run our department. Give them a budget, clear expectations, measurable goals, and let them go without questioning their every move. Let's see where we are in 5 years.

Hey remember when this thread was about getting a NEW VIDEOBOARD. I miss that conversation, especially since none of the sports are leaving or moving divisions anytime soon.

I started a thread discussing BG's fit in FBS or FCS.

Re the video board...what is there to talk about. We don't know how big it wil be on when it's really going to be installed...other than that...what is there to say?

I don't know, it seems sorta risky, but what the heck, we have been going nowhere for a long time. I guess I just feel by dropping to fcs we'll probably score 5-6 thousand fans for a significant football game.
We have done just about everything humanly possible to stay D 1 and we are spinning our wheels. I really think we were hoping when judgement day came, and it is here, we would be invited into some sort of super league which would be viewed by league members as a step forward and up. Doesn't appear to be happening.

If we're getting new uniforms hopefully we will completely redo the layout and design. We haven't changed them much the last few years ......

IMHO, I feel like switching uniforms every other season is going to lead you down a path of "upping the ante" each year. They want to make them cooler and cooler each year, but ultimately they get more and more hideous.
