I guess I want us to stand for something...for history and longevity. You don't see the Red Wings, Yankees, Canadians, Celtics, Lakers, Tigers, etc. changing color schemes and having all sorts of revised logos and alternate jerseys.

Just leave it alone. Orange, Brown and the classic Falcon logo (like in ones in our info boxes to the left). Period.

Gray and orange are pretty hot marketing colors right now but only in certain hue combinations when they are combined.

The dark slate gray and "new" orange were a horrible combination because you had two colors of very similar hues on the same canvas. Instead of having two colors complementing one another, you had two colors competing with one another. It would have been better with a lighter color gray but even that combination would have made a better uniform for a Martha Stewart branded team.

My recommendation? Don't ever f*cking do that again. Just knowing how Globe like them should be proof positive what type of marketing disaster those unis were.
I can agree with the color twist. The Orange was hard to read on tv. The Gray was awesome though. And I was nowhere near the only one to love it. There were hundreds of people on instagram that chimed in to say how much they loved it.

What is it about this type of thing that brings out the azzholes? What's wrong with people? It's Christmas but you disagree with someone and think it's cool to be a jerk. Go back to wearing your super cool jersey that says rightupinthere on the back and lay off the internets. This is a land of peace since I learned about the ignore function.
Ah. Forgot to include THIS:

Is brown one of those 50 shades of grey I keep hearing about?

I will add my two cents to this discussion and leave it at that. But I have to laugh at some of the comments about people getting so worked up about an alternative uniform color. Some of you need to chill. We didn't change our colors and aren't going to. Like it or not, there is a wave in college athletics where many schools, even big-named schools that have featured a "traditional look," are adding new and different looks to their uniforms, and yes, even colors (most being black). And like it or not, it's what a lot of the guys want. While many, if not all of us on here, aren't 18-22 and play for the team, the ones who are wearing these jersey are. I see the remarks about tradition and history, yet, I didn't see many people griping about our alternative while helmet as BG has NEVER worn anything but an orange one prior to last season. Our color are burnt orange and seal brown. Yes teams typically wear white on the road in football and at home on basketball, but we added a white helmet to our lineup and not a brown one. And you know what. It looks badass!

Like it or not, kids like and want options. If we don't give them options, others schools, even our own peers in the MAC, will. There are several other schools in the MAC that have added black uniforms and those aren't their school colors either. It's another part of the recruiting wars and making current players happy. The same way we don't "need" things like video boards, seat backs, indoor practice facilities, and many of the amenities you find in the stadiums wars going on but schools are doing them to show a commitment and add new and better things. Two of our previous coaches have come right out and said sometimes we have actually lost guys who it came down to the wire with because our our colors (Meyer and Brandon). I bet Clawson would even admit the same now if asked. As silly as that may seem to you or me, it happens sometimes - we're dealing with kids. I remember reading a comment from a BG great Josh Harris talking about not liking our colors and being reluctant to coming to BG. Even guys who come here may hate them. I would bet the house we often fall short on the list of kids who like our colors over other school.

I for one actually don't like our colors much either. I think they are sort of ugly. Yes, I said it too, I do. And while I don't like our colors much, I do love my school. I give money to it every year and have traveled from Idaho to Florida to Massachusetts to Louisiana to support this program. I will always hope for them to succeed and will do my best to support them. And while I like that we are "unique" in D-I as the only school that wears our colors, let's not kid ourselves as to why we are the on the only school wearing them. There's a reason why many schools wear red and white, or blue and yellow, or green and white, etc. No one is going to change their colors to what we have. And if many of you were to take off your orange and brown glasses and ask a lot of people outside of the state of Ohio, or those who aren't either Cleveland Browns fans or BG Falcons fans, you'd likely find a large percentage who don't like them either.

Further, I am not saying anyone who likes our colors shouldn't. I think it's great that people do. My point to all of this is I don't see the point of getting so worked up because of adding grey, black or even white to our look. So if BG goes to a damn gray jersey or adds black to something, I'm not going to piss and moan about it. If it's what our student athletes want and it helps us gain a needed edge somewhere on or off the field, I am all for it. I am actually glad we are being proactive and reaching out to the wants and needs and not just sitting back doing nothing while many school are. In 10 years from now this is likely going to be the norm across the board for most schools. But ten years ago, we weren't seeing this done much at all. Hell even Oregon back around then was wearing a somewhat "standard " look. If you are so bothered by a gray or black jersey, then put your money where your mouth is. I am willing to bet if you had custom brown jerseys made for the team that we wouldn't turn them away. Until then, I applaud BG for the efforts we've made and are doing. GO BG!!!
GO BG!!!

I thought the jerseys were pretty sweet. I'm ok with brown jerseys as well but I need orange to still be included. I didn't like the brown with only white we used years back.

I liked the grey as an alternate...thought it looked sweet. I also love Oregon's unis most of the time...so I guess that's where I cone from. Love tradition but I don't think you lose that much tradition by pulling out some cool new uniform designs.

And contrary to common though here I think the best thing you can do for marketing is cone up with a bunch of styles of jersey that will appeal to a bunch of fans. There is a reason why I've never purchase a bg jersey and its because I think most are boring. I might be tempted for one of those grey ones though.

Why can the hockey team get the uniforms right, but football and basketball can't? Obviously, Adidas doesn't cover hockey uniforms?

I agree with a lot of what 33 said. Although I'm a traditionalist in many ways (I still hate that we changed the logo a few years back), I don't see any harm in throwing in an alternate look on occasion......particularly a special occasion, such as a bowl game. I will always like any combination of the orange, brown and white, but I loved the grey we wore this week. Do I want that to be our new full time look? Definitely not. Burnt orange and seal brown need to remain our official colors, but it was cool to see us in something strikingly different, as a change of pace.

People's opinions on fashions and colors will always vary. No uniform combination will ever please 100% of the people, so even if you didn't like the greys, understand that others did and it's not the end of the world if we wear something different once in awhile. I hosted a watch party for the game, which was comprised of about half the attendees being BG fans and the other half just friends that were there to hang out and have a good time. I will say that every single person at my place that night loved the uniforms.

Did not like it much for many reasons but here is what I will share:

1. Not much contrast between gray and a green field - made our players look smaller than the white unit.

2. Looked more like sweats.

3. Gray is not our team color and does not mesh with orange.

Seriously think many of you are more upset that we wore gray than that we lost.

Eh, The gray jersey was something different. I wouldn't have picked it, but I understand the novelty of it. My one thought though is if you are going to do this stuff, you need to have the entire uniform more coordinated. We should have gotten grey shoes and socks to match the jersey.

And I agree with whoever said the orange was tough to read with the gray.

To be honest when it comes to this entire issue. I think the athletic department should try to do a new jersey once a year with the unstated goal of annoying the crap out of traditionalists. Stretching things a bit. Starting conversation. An "ugly jersey" might just get us more publicity than one that people love. I still remember those Maryland atrocities a few years ago and it made us talk about Maryland. Then every once in awhile you hit on one people love.
