Me too. Especially considering how WKU was still throwing for the end zone on their last drive despite being up that big! This was my concern with Anthony Turner several years ago when we used to put him in. He just handed the ball off and we never even let him really attempt a pass. When we needed him, he wasn't ready.Class of 61 wrote:kdog27 wrote:I remember him getting up slow and being hobbled going to the sidelines. Can't place when it was. The entire game to me is a blur now that I'm trying to forget.
One other thing that annoyed me was putting Knapke in to only hand off in late moments of game.. Same thing happened last yr. IIRC. Seems like " ok, we give in" instead of letting him throw the ball.

I have to believe that Knapke has some of the trait due to the fact that he was able to let his team to a state championship 3 straight years. I just don't see any possible way that he isn't a figure that guys can rally around and be led by. We are all in for a ride this year. I believe that we will be happily surprised at the end of the season.Beaker wrote: He seems to be the kind of guy that makes players around him want to play better. Hopefully, we will see that same trait from Knapke.
Just remember, you can't make diamonds without adding a little pressure. Time to reveal the character that this team and program has. Character is revealed in the face of adversity.

Another thing that really hurts by losing Johnson is all of the experience and reps he was going to get this entire season. Baber's has commented on how it would take all of this year and half of next year to finally get things to click. He is now going to miss out on all that development and reps.

James Knapke played well. Proud of his effort. Now he can/needs to progress. Cody Callaway is a very good football player. Instinctual and talented. We have two QB's available who can play. Nolan Dieter would be third.
This is a tough part of the schedule. So strap in and let's go.
