Re: More trouble...
Assault and battery is such a pedestrian, unimaginative and meatheaded crime. I'd have so much more respect for these dum dum's if they were engaged in cybercrimes involving stolen credit cards or the sale of bootleg "Game of Thrones" merch or even the sale of loose cigarettes and asian porn DVD's....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

What bar did Liquid use to be? Been many moons since I drank in BG.
Re: More trouble...
Sky Bar

What did Sky Bar used to be? Been even more moons for me.
Re: More trouble...
Lol, me too actually. Sky bar was right after i graduated. Before that, I'm not sure. I don't remember a bar there in the mid 90s while i was a student. It's across the street from the library and a little to the north i think. Close to that drive up laundromat.
Just checked. It's directly across from the library.

Re: More trouble...
I remember it being called Stardust briefly before being called Sky Bar. Maybe Gargoyles before that, or was that something else?
Re: More trouble...
I think gargoyles was in the spot between nate and wally's and the gas station. That bar changed almost every year while i was there. Think it was called froggers and i forget what it was right before that. It was a dive but had decent live bands sometimes.

Re: More trouble...
A former co-worker of mine used to be a bouncer at one of the fine downtown establishments back in the late 80's and early 90's. He told me several stories of times when small groups of football players would come in, acting entitled to something and like the rules didn't apply to them...and anytime they would enforce one of the rules on one player, the whole group would ascend on the bouncer like a pack. Don't remember if it ever resulted in broken eye sockets...but it sounds like little has changed. Maybe it's just discovered more now as everyone has a camera handy and an instant social media presence.

Okay, so we know about Thomas, Rhodes and Watson being involved (to varying degrees) in this incident. I have read where Thomas and Watson were suspended. Does anyone know if Rhodes was too? I see both Rhodes and Watson are on the roster, but Thomas is not. Anyone have any knowledge on what these suspensions will or could lead to?
GO BG!!!
Re: More trouble...
I would like to know this as well BGSU33. Hopefully someone will know something. Its hard to believe that Rhodes wouldnt get some sort of discipline whether its a suspension or something. Our defensive depth just keeps taking hits too.

From one of the news channels in Toledo, said both Thomas and Watson were suspended, while Rhodes was still participating in team activities.
Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach PE.
Re: More trouble...
I think that there are other issues with Watson that might be the reason that he and Rhodes appear to be being handles slightly different. It is a crying shame that BT made this poor decision. High motor player that would have been very helpful for this years defense. Guys need to understand that there are cameras and cellphones everywhere. Screw-ups are going to be seen and likely recorded. They all have to understand the opportunity they have been given and TAKE full advantage of it both athletically and academically. These are young men and adults, they need to better represent the school and themselves. Time for the rest of the team to sack-up and get ready. Re: More trouble...
That is true and I certainly hope the guys understand this, but I sincerely hope that is not what the guys are being taught. The lesson should not be that everybody can be a publisher right now so don't get caught doing something stupid. The lesson should be about adjusting behavior from "high school star athlete" to "adult and soon-to-be-professional in a career."kenyon wrote:Guys need to understand that there are cameras and cellphones everywhere. How about just follow the law and drink a beer without incident like 99% of your peers do. This isn't about camera phones catching every little thing, this is felonious assault.

This. How hard is it to NOT be stupid when out at a bar? It seems like 99.99 percent of college students somehow manage it.
Having been a college fan for many decades and watched some very talented players throw away their college (and potential pro) careers with stupid crap like this, I ceased being surprised by anything that happens during an off season long, long ago.
